Dell XPS M1530 :: Upgrade Not Fully Working

I have a Dell XPS M1530 ,I am fixing for someone, originally with a Microsoft Windows Vista but it stopped working(no further info on how)Â so I tried to install Windows 7(Multiple times(4)) and all it does is stack upon itself (When booting it shows Windows 7, Windows 7,Windows 7, Windows 7,Windows Vista). When installing it goes through but stops on the reboot, I did disconnect the USB, but it gets "frozen" on Starting Windows (on reboot of installation). Safemode stops at system32driversdisk.sys.
I tried using this method; but this is for cd (I am using an external HD) [URL] ....

I bought the laptop mid 2011and did not get around to looking at the fingerprint reader until the end of that year. I used it briefly but with very few passwords I un-enrolled my fingerprints and let it sit idle.

Recently I decided to use it again but it was dead. I installed the Validity Fingerprint Sensor driver sp55109.exe and HP SimplePass Identity Protection 2011 sp54680.exe. Upon restart it took me though the fingerprint enrolment process and started working.
The first driver is the actual sensor and the second is the management software, correct?

Very recently I updated Internet Explorer from 9 to 11 and the SimplePass stopped working again. So I repeated the above steps but only overwrote the existing drivers.

It started working again in that I can logon the laptop with a fingerprint and I can assign a website to an enrolled fingerprint to launch but it is no longer asking me if I want simple pass to save passwords.

Could this be related to IE 11?.

I the tutorial mentions an very new driver sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8

Would this driver work or am I just overlooking something else as it partially functions?

I now definetly think its drivers. Sound not working, mic not working.
i found out strange thing happened to my laptop. When i tried to play mp3, or any other file through wmp, vlc, itunes no sound was heard. when tried to play with wmp it showed up error i clciked web help but no useful info was found in there. when through vlc i just kept playing music (without sound) i tried updating drivers reinstalling to them that were shipped but no good. i have the warranty bought from the dell. i can/ but dont want to acces the mainboard so i wont loose my warranty. i now think it is a soft/drivers problem. in device manager it shows that everything is ok. tried so set the default audio device, microphone not working ***

Can I upgrade my Dell XPS M1530 with a T5800 Core 2 Duo CPU to a Quad Core CPU like the Q8100 (not now but maybe in the next 6 months)..
I think the socket is the same and it's still Penryn but the FSB is different so I'm not sure..

After upgrade to 8.1 HDMI port didn't work. Â Followed instructions to correct BIOS and graphice driver; HDMI works - however Silverlight no longer working with DMS.

I received my DELL XPS M1530 Last week. When i ordered my dell i made a dumb mistake and didn't select the higher resolution screens. Hence, at the moment my maximum IS 1280X800. I would really like to upgrade to a screen which supports a higher resolution as i use it for Gaming, GFX, editing as well watching movies. Does anyone have any recommendations of an LCD screen which is compatible with XPS M1530?
1440x900 or anything better would be great.
I heard good things about the Lp154We2(Tl)(B2) 15.4" Wsxga+ Lcd, but i can seem to find it anywhere within the UK or europe. The screens
i keep on bumping into is the LP154WE2 (TL)(A1) WSXGA. Is it any good.

I'm looking to buy a M1530 LED WXGA+ screen (1440x900). I currently have the stock 1280x800 CCFL. I have some question that I'm hoping some of you would be able to answer:
Will the LED screen fit normally within the stock CCFL backing/bezel?
I'm looking at screen descriptions, for the LED's I don't see "inverters" listed as included but in some, though not all CCFL have it mentioned in the description, is this something that's no longer required? or is it built into the panel?
What is a good price for these panels? The panel I'm looking at is a Glossy 1440x900 LED screen for $205CAD with shipping and taxes included. Good price? bad? Is it possible to get it cheaper?
Concerning batterylife, I have a 9cell and am averaging of 3.5-4hrs of usage with wifi on and screen in one level just before full brightness on Power save mode. Will I see a very noticable increase in battery life? I keep hearing people spout "30%" are there any actual tests?

I've been out of the hardware game for quite some time. Cisco for 2 years will make you forget stuff.
I have a Dell XPS M1530, T9300 processor. I am wondering if I can upgrade to the T9900. Also, my current processor is 32 bit. Can I get a T9900 in 64 bit, and will it work with my mobo? OS doesn't matter, can redo it. I am trying to beef it up for better gaming. 3gb ram is killing me...
Another question. Just wondering if it is possible to get an i5 or i7 instead? Will the i7 physically fit into the slot? 45nm
Yet another question. The laptop runs hot already. With a processor upgrade, surely it will run hotter.

I'm itching to buy one, but I'd be playing games like Fallout 3 and I've heard that the 8600M GT just doesn't cut it and I was wondering if there's an upgrade coming out sometime in 2009?

I bought my XPS laptop a couple of years ago and got it with the 128 mb GeForce 8400M GS.
I read on a couple of different websites that you could upgrade the XPS videocards on the XPS.
I went to the Dell website upgrade section and when I entered my service tag number, video cards wasn't an option to upgrade; though motherboards were.
Is it possible to upgrade the videocard to the 256 mb GeForce GT; which I should have purchased to begin with? Do I have to buy a new motherboard and put the 256 chip on it? Lastly, is the 256 the only video card I can buy to replace the 128?

just had the dell tech round on friday to replace my motherboard, and have since discovered my webcam isnt working.
I get the message "No supported camera detected, please plug in to continue" in Dell Webcam Manager.
Also the webcam does not show up in device manager.
When the system powers on the webcam light does not flash...
So basically, i think he forgot to plug in the webcam to the new motherboard, or its a loose connection, does this sound about right??
If so would it be a reasonably easy job for me to rectify?
I cant really be bothered with going through the hassle of diagnosing the fault with someone over the phone who i cant really understand, then have to find some free time to have the tech come round and fix it, when he will probably mess something else up in the process.
I have the service manual for this laptop (M1530) but cant seem to find anything in there.

To start off, i have a dell xps m1530. i just recently (a week ago) installed windows 8 on it and it was working perfectly fine until about a day ago. My touchpad suddenly started typing symbols when i moved my finger around on it and then all together it just quit working including the buttons.
I later discovered that if i were to press the caps lock key my whole keyboard would quit working until i restarted my computer. I've tried reinstalling all different kinds of alps drivers for my touchpad including the one i had before the windows 8 switch, which was supposedly compatible with windows 8, and still have got nothing to work or change.
Under the device manager my touchpad still shows up but has a "code 24" under the description of it which means something isnt working properly, not plugged in or the drivers are nonexistant. I am so lost now and dont know how to get my touchpad working again or why my keyboard quits working when i hit caps lock (which doesnt actually turn on the caps lock anymore).

The left mouse button on my m1530 has taken a battering. It has gone all lop-sided, crunches every time I press it, and now doesn't work at all unless I press down on it very very hard with two fingers.
I work fast, so this is an incredibly frustrating thing to happen, as everything now takes ten times longer to do.

Like the title says, I just noticed now that the touch pads scrolling doesn't work.
I usually use a usb mouse but sometimes I don't have that with me and wanted to know if anyone knew where to find a driver for the touch pad.
I looked on dells website but didn't find anything, but maybe I didn't look hard enough?

My SPXS 16 will not charge to 100% unless I have it turned on.
When it's turned off and charging, the lights on the hinge of the screen will go off, meaning it's fully charged, but it's only charged to about 90% when I turn it on.
I'm assuming this is happening because the battery is not calibrated with the BIOS correctly..

I have the chance to buy a Dell XPS M1730 from someone, they have given me the service tag and it says it was shipped on the 07/05/2009 and the warranty runs until 06/05/2010.
If i bought this laptop would the warranty be fully transferable to me, is it straight forward to change over a warranty with Dell ?

I'm looking to buy one of these machines to replace my 2 year old M90 (which I upgraded to full spec, 2500fx, 4gb, fastest available fitting processor).
Essentially both machines have X9000, 4gb RAM, 8xDVD. The 6300 has 200gb HD, and a 512mb 3600fx card, the 1730 has 2x160gb and dual sli 8800gtx. The M6300 is about £100 less ($200).
I'm struggling to decide :- I love the screen and design of my M90 (the glossy screen on the M1730 looks nasty to me), but I'd imagine the 1730 would outperform the M6300 quite substantially (although my M90 actually drew with if not beat its XPS sibling on several games). The M90 was also built fantastically well....I'm not sure about the 1730 never having seen one.

Replacement was initiated by Dell in early September, was told backorder until September 21. On September 21, backorder was pushed to October 5...
I've made a bit of noise and I'm at the "Consumer Escalation" level, but I know there's the "Executive Escalation" level as well. At this point, I've got a Service Call number for a system replacement, but it's showing no activity....

My laptop is Dell ultrabook XPS 13. I've been used it for about 6 months. I don't know when it started to be like this but I've just noticed recently that the battery shown on desktop is never full charged even when it's plugged in for long hours. Last week it's at 41-42% at maximum but now it never reached more than 39% and it seems to be less and less even though I keep it plugged in every time I use it. I'm worried there's something wrong with battery but it said my battery is still fine, but obviously it's not fine.Â

I have never had an issue with using the SD slot on the front on the laptop, until now. I extracted the SD spacer to insert an adapter with micro sd and the adapter will not fully mount into the slot. I have tried just a regular SD card with the same results. The adapter has no problem being inserted or popped out. I don't see anything 'jamming' it or a foreign object in the slot, as much as I can see in the little spot.Â

1. Upgrade the HD from a 5400 to a 7200, I have the HD.
2. Install Windows Vista Business - I have an original retail version, and I absolutely need this.
I have the Vista Business Retail DVD. What I want to do is have Windows and the dell partitions configured exactly as they came with the original computer, only with Vista Business, and on the new hard disk. I don't want to alter Media Direct, or delete the restoration partition. Everything should be the same except the Windows Versio

I have a D510 battery that according to the laptop LED is fully charged however upon booting into windows the battery power indicator and the dell quickset indicator show only 84%i have also let the laptop charge the battery while in windows however even when the charge indicator on the laptop is off and the indicator in the taskbar shows running of the mains the charge is again 84%i have tested the battery health using the inbuilt indicator and it is OK, it is only 12 months old but i am aware that degridation takes place, but could this just be a case of windows not reporting the charge correctly and its nothing to worry aboutthe battery lasts between 2-3 hours on average id say thats goodupdated the battery seems to be stuck charging at 88% is that a sign of simple wear and tear?

I don't own a Mac, but I've used them. One of the things that has always bothered me about them is the way applications launch. Specifically, they always seem to launch in their own un-maximized window. The yellow button doesn't always fully maximize the application and one has to drag the window into full screen and even then the front row thingy blocks the window from fully maximizing.
Is there a simple way to fully maximize an application on a Mac? Is there a setting that will make it so that all apps automatically launch maximized?

I'm writing a C/C++ program to communicate between my HP 15-doo4au laptop and a DISTO D510 laser measuring device, which requires bluetooth 4 low energy (BLE).

I can pair to the device in Windows 8.1, but bluetooth 4 doesn't seem available via C/C++.  If I call the Microsoft function BluetoothIsVersionAvailable(), it only succeeds for at most bluetooth 2.1.  Why?

I suspect this is more a configuration/driver issue than a programming one.  Is there a better driver I need to install to bring this laptop's bluetooth spec up to full Bluetooth 4 support?
