View 4 RepliesI have a ProBook 4535s. I just did a fresh Windows 7 install but I can’t get the USB controller and SM Bus controller drivers to work. I downloaded and installed them from the HP website, but they are still showing yellow in Device Manager.Â

I tried everything and still need drivers for DV7-6C63NR:
SM Bus Controller
Â
Network Controller
Â
also I cannot get my WiFi adapter to turn on with the button on keyboard - I suspect that it must be my network controller but I cannot locate the driver for it.
After downgrading my hp 15-g073nr notebook PC from the preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 64 bit I have the common driver problems others are having and I managed to resolve all but a couple.
Â
I am still missing the following drivers: PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller and the SM Bus Controller.
But this to "video controller" and "video controller (VGA compatible)" still can't find the way to fix them, I went to dell's drivers download page and the drivers don't fix the problem!!!
I've been told that I need my video controller working so I can put my computer into standby or hibernate, since that option is not working on my computer.
My computer works fine but I really would like to fix this two issues!!!
Ethernet Controller is another device that is not working, but I'm not too worried about it since I can connect to the internet using my wireless card
In the process of trying different nVidia GPU drivers I inadvertently uninstalled a bunch of other nVidia drivers from my SXPS 1340 . Managed to reinstall most of them, but I keep on getting an error looking for drivers for the SM Bus controller. Now all the advice on t'internet is that this is part of the chipset drivers, which I have reinstalled a number of times- all the other devices are fine now, but the SM Bus controller is still flagged up in the device manager.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo does anyone know of one that actually works? I have tried i8kfangui, but it no longer works with Windows Vista 64 bit, due to the unsigned drivers issue.
I disabled the signed drivers thing by booting while pressing F8.. and it installed perfectly and worked until I restarted Windows normally..
Then it said fanio driver not found or something, and refused to work unless I boot by pressing F8..
So anyone have a solution? Speedfan doesn't seem to work either.. I want to set the fans not to kick in so load until a certain temp .....
I had to format the wife's old Dell Inspiron 5100 and reinstall XP. I did not have the install CD that has all the drivers so I went to the dell website and downloaded all that I needed.
I got everything installed but the hardware manager says I have an "ethernet controller" that does not have a driver. It has a Broadcom network card in it and it says the driver is loaded properly and that the device is functioning correctly .....
The fan on my E6400 runs most of the time at about 3000 rpm, I would like it to run at about 1500 rpm instead, I think 3000 rpm is quite noisy, even though it's stated as "slow"...
It works great and I'm able to controll the fan-speed (and noise!) manually..
I'm wondering if it would be possible to modify this fan controller for the E6400 and other laptops as well?..
The Zalman Fan Mate 2 has an input of 12V and can via the knob output between 5-11V, hence the fan will run slower if it is conncected to the Zalman controller. The problem so far is that the Zalman Fan Mate 2 is built for desktops with bigger power-pins, the one in the E6400 is quite small. Secondly I'm not sure about the voltage of the built in Dell-fan.
Anyway, if someone figure out how to modify a hardware fan controller for the Dell Latitude series, I think these controllers could sell like hot cakes...
XP has the controller flag in device manager (red) When I try to install the drivers I get setup.rul 380 error..is it a bad card?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 1749 into which I have installed two OCZ Vertex 3 MaxIOPS SSD drives. Boot times are pretty fast using a single, non-raid, drive but I was thinking of configuring the two drives in a RAID 0 configuration to boost speed a bit further. I could not find anything in the bios settings that would allow the SATA controller to go to a RAID configuration. I guess, therefore, that at least the laptop that I have does not have RAID capabilities. Were there any Studio 1749 system boards that did indeed support RAID?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been able to get their Ethernet Controller to work on the Studio 17? I have the wireless working, but the Ethernet Controller will not load any drivers, automatic or manual. I have searched Intel's site and downloaded every 64 bit driver from Dell's Studio 17 download page.

I downloaded all the drivers at Dell Product Support Website. Everything worked OK except that on my Device Manager, I am missing one driver, that is for PCI Simple Communications Controller, any link where I could download the driver?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wireless is not working yet. I'm assuming its because Network Controller is not installed yet. How to install the Network Contoller driver for Inspiron 1525?
1) new hard drive installed
2) installed OS from Factory CD
3) I have followed the proper sequence for driver installation
4) I tried drivers using my Service Tag and not using service tag (it installed Ethernet but not the Network Controller)
5) i don't see any manufacturer info or model information  in the  sysinfo or Control Panel properties
Only way to possibly identify the wireless card is from the card itself and that isn't mush work either:

I have a Precision M4800 that has its USB ports stop working in two cases so far. First, if I use the card reader at all, it works to access files, but then when I try to eject the card, it shows neither an error nor the "safe to remove" message. the card stays in the list of drives even after it's unplugged. If another USB drive is plugged in after this, it isn't recognized.
The second case is after using an external USB 3.0 drive for a while, it can stop working. The drive shows up in the list of drives, but all the directories appear empty. Unplugging doesn't remove the drive, and new drives aren't recognized. Once this happens, shutting down the machine crashes after a few minutes with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in either USBSTOR.sys or O2FJ2w7x64.sys. Could this be a hardware problem? It seems like the USB controller is locking up and the other drivers are getting blamed.
what could this be unknown device in device manager

I have E6400 with Vista SP1. When I tested hard disk using HDtune, the burst rate is always much lower compared to the transfer rate. I already tried Seagate, WD, Toshiba, they're all the same.
But if I look benchmark from other users (they don't use Dell though), the graph is different. Here is what I have:
My graph: the burst rate is always low.
E6400 users, can you test yours and let me know?
I’m hoping someone can help me as I’ve tried everything (which my knowledge is very limited) that I know what to do and I am unable to fix the problem I am having.
I have a Dell Inspiron 710M which is no longer under warranty and yesterday I received the following error upon boot-up. The 710M was purchased in February 2006. Windows XP Home Edition SP3 was installed.

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit and have all the drivers loaded, I think, except one:
Mass Storage Controller
Can't find the driver, don't know what it is. I've installed the chipset driver, the ATA driver, etc. Still it shows as not found.
What do I need to download to create a High Speed USB Port Controller on my antique Inspiron 5100 .....
View 1 Replies View RelatedFinding the correct Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller driver for my Dell n5110.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedI reimaged my client's laptop and I am trying to download the drivers for the Universal Serial Bus Controller. I went on the dell website and tried downloading it but it still shows up as missing.
Operating system: Windows 7 x64
I was also wondering if dell has put the correct drivers up for the operating system. I select Windows 7 x64 drivers on the webpage. When I try to install them, it gives me a "invaild operating system" error.
I have successfully completed a fresh install of Win XP Pro on by laptop and the final driver that just will not install is the Intel Chipset driver. I have downloaded the latest driver from Dells website using my laptop tag to get the correct drivers.Â
In device manager I have a yellow exclamation mark against SM Bus controller. However, when I install the chipset driver at the very end, the install says 'error, install will now end', then you click close and then it wants to reboot. SM Bus controller remains with an exclamation mark in the device manager.Â
Recently got a hand me down laptop. My brother did a reinstall of Windows 7 and formatted the hard drive before handing it over.
Its having issues - I'm trying to play FM 2013 but keep getting crashes during games. When I looked in Device Manager there were a load of yellow !. Most I solved by just right clicking and updating the drivers. The 540M graphiics were not showing up a all - so I had to download these from the website myself - but now have the Nvidia centre - which seems to work.
But still the SM bus controller still shows a yellow ! - and the game continues to crash, sometimes it forces a system shutdown.
When I click on the yellow ! and get a hardware ids i get:
PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_050E1028&REV_05PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1C22&
SUBSYS_050E1028PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1C22&CC_0C0500PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1C22&CC_0C05
Keep getting a unknown device error in device manager:
SM Bus Controller
Anyone know what this hardware actually is? better yet know what driver I need for it? Vista 64bit
I have installed all the drivers on the HP webiste for my model of laptop but its to no avail.
