Acer :: AA 7520G Boots Only If You Press Hard Next To The Touchpad
Nov 21, 2009
My Acer Aspire 7520G suddenly refused to boot, leaving blank screen only. No boot logo or anything. However, after googling around a bit, I found one thread with a solution, which is to press hard around the touchpad, and to my big surprise it did indeed work.
So does anyone know what's wrong with the computer that behaves this way? I never found the cause, and before I start disassembling the laptop, it would be nice to know what to look for. (Can't take it to the service as warranty expired a couple of months ago)

I own an HP 15 and i recently downloaded a game. when I opened the game and tried to play I was unable to press any button on my keyboard and move my touchpad at the same time. An example is that I was playing a first person shooter and i was unable to walk forward and aim at the same time. The touchpad would not let me aim unless i would stop moving (not pressing the w key.) I figured it was the numlock being enabled but after spending 2 or 3 hours searching on how to turn off the numlock such as using the on screen keyboard and using a combination of fn+ another key and I still have not succeeded in finding out what the problem is.

it feels like something is blocking my eject key (and sometimes my L-shift key). Nothing that I know have is fallen through the keyboard...
I'm guessing I can't take off keys from a laptop keyboard. Is the best course of action to call dell? I don't really want to send away my laptop, but I may have no choice...
It's a Studio 1555 if this matters

I have an Aspire 7520G.
ADM Turion 64x2 1.90 Ghz.
Geforde 8400m G 256mb.
3 GB RAM.
I used the acer program ePower management and put everything on max performance.
The CPU is at 100% clockspeed. Only when i play a game, the CPU somethings drops till 80%. This causes major lag spikes for 5-8 secondes.
I got a screenshot where you can see the drops.
What causes this problem?? Is it the because my CPU is overheating? (in the picture is quite stable).
I got the latest BIOS version by the acer helpdesk.

Aspire 7520G, Realtek audio installed, Logitech Z-10 USB speakers and Steelseries Siberia Neckband Headset with additional sound card (see pic).
So. When I switch off winamp, plug out speakers and plug-in my headset - its not working! The most interesting thing is when I just plug-in in the headset without sound card (just directly to the note) - it works!
I dont know why, but earlier it was working properly with this external sound regulator. And now not.
I suppose, it might be because of USB/analog switching or something similar, but I dont know..

I have Acer Travelmate 7520G (Turion TL-58) and upgraded from 2G of 667Mhz RAM to 4G of 800Mhz, however the memory is still running at 667Mhz and FSB:RAM being CPU/6. Chipset here is Ati RS690 and according to Everest it supports 800Mhz DDR2. There is no option in bios to change the RAM frequency or divider.. I have tried updating the bios with no luck.

I hope to find an answer here, I have an Acer Aspire 8930G. It came with Windows Vista but I bought Windows 7. I installed it and it runs fine up to the last boot (right after the accountname and internetconnection questions) After it boots it will go to the recovery straigt away. I called Acer and the guy was a man of few words, he basically just told me it couldn't be installed unless it was a Windows 7 bought from Acer. Is this really the case that Acer is like all those horrible telecomcompanies with their customized firmwares?

I used the nVidia VGA BIOS mod a few weeks ago, this is probably not my problem, though. I booted blindly using the USB stick (had to remove the HDD) and flashed the old BIOS, yet I still get a blank screen.
Before this happened, my laptop was acting really sluggish for some reason, so I thought I should restart to fix it, I did that and it came up as a blank screen! First restart, it seemed to boot to the OS, next time, it did not.
It's pretty much like the 5315 post (what a coincidence).
Windows 7 by the way

HDD broke. I bought new one and recovery cds. BUT my aspire V3-551G never boots from cd. Copied system disk to flash and that boots but no way to get it to recognize recovery disk 1. Is the fault in bios, physical dvd drive, or recovery software?
Can I (or should i):
A. edit some file in usb system disk to get it to cooperate
B. update bios
C. move a dvd drive from other laptop
D. get usb cd drive (tried didnt work)
E. get other usb flash hdd (as if that changes things somehow)
F. Move HDD to other laptop and either boot or work through windows there
G. Find acer accepted laptop fixer (how)

I have a Dell Latitude E6330 laptop and I recently replaced my hard drive as my old one had died--this was confirmed by the IT department at my school. After replacing the hard drive on my laptop, I found that the Fn+F5 command to disable my touchpad/touch stick was unresponsive. Upon further inspection, the touchpad button on my system tray was gone, and all touchpad related functions of my laptop were gone. In place of my touchpad (and all windows, settings, options, etc. ... that concerned it) was this ps/2 compatible mouse, which I am not allowed to disable.
I am a gamer and a student, and having my touchpad/touch stick enabled hinders my ability to type or play games as easily as I am used to due to misclicks. I used to be able to set my laptop to disable my touchpad (and other related hardware) automatically when I plugged in a USB mouse, and I would like to return to this setting if possible. How to do this without disabling the touchpad in the BIOS (as I do need to use my touchpad during lectures) ...

I have a new XPS 1340, That seems to be having issues with starting up in the wee hours. Monday morning 4:30am I woke up for work, looked over at the Laptop sitting on the desk and the side hinge lights were on.opened screen and saw the login page. I always shut my computer down completely I don't use the hibernate feature.
Several Times last week I noticed when I came home from work and powered up the laptop instead of "starting Windows" it said "resuming Windows". I really don't know if this just started or has been this way since day one. I do know that the battery level always indicates 100% when I shut down and when I start up it's down to about 92% from just sitting turned off? Again I don't use hibernate I "Shut down". using windows 7.
Are their scheduled tasks that can start my machine I have noticed about 34 scheduled tasks in the scheduler can't quite undertsand why so many tasks come pre loaded. Anyway, most have never executed can I just delete them?any help, suggestions, greatly appreciated.
Spent the past 45 min trying to talk to Dell, been on hold guess lunch time is a bad idea.
Could I have a Progrram that is trying to "auto run once" ?

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 and about one year ago it starting booting slowly. I created a second partition and installed a vanilla Windows 7 on it and booted into it and it still boots slowly.I've tried every form of optimization that various sites, including you, have told other people in forums. Drivers, defragmentation, chmod, and various other things I can't remember.
It takes about 3-5 minutes for a cold boot and about 9 minutes from hibernation. Sleep mode works normally.I don't know what the issue could be. There's only two more things I have not done: backup and reformat the whole drive and update bios.I have recorded me starting my laptop in safe-mode to show that the drivers load very slowly: URL...

Dell Studio 1535. Boots only sporadically. If it boots, there are colored vertical stripes behind the normal screen content.
Sometimes/rarely it's possible to reach safe mode, but never full Windows (Vista) normal mode.
System test found errors 3900-0626 and 5300-0119.

Then I tried removing the battery and kept the adapter on and it worked. Now is the battery faulty? Do I have to change that, or could it be some other issue?
