I'm having a problem with my Dell Inspiron 1720. When it is plug in (with original adapter) touchpad mouse is constantly freezing, plug in mouse is not working, and i hear a buzz in my speakers. When it works on batery everything is ok. Is the problem adapter or something else?

My dell xps 15 is freezing with an abnormal buzz sound while gaming. no keys are working then, have to shut down by holding down the power button. This happens only when gaming(till now). Its just out of warranty and the problems started. I can't understand the problem. did f12 diagnostics, but no error.

The commercials that CNN play prior to the story are fine as is a DVD or my loaded music. I relly do not want to reinstall. I have had the computer 3 weeks and I am not sure if it has been there from the beginning. I have updated everything from HP including BIOS and have tried a different browser and adjusted volume levels. Windows has done updates.

While the charging problem is fixed, whenever I plug my computer in with this adapter, the mouse becomes erratic. I can do basic navigation, then the cursor flips out and flies over what I'm about to click, so aiming for anything is like running on ice. I read a few things online as to what this is, and wound up updating my mouse driver and BIOS, even "releasing flea power" (Either I did it wrong or it didn't work) This has done nothing for this problem. I don't want to have to replace this computer. This is a Dell Inspiron N5110
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 5547 about 2 weeks ago. I've noticed a problem with the touchpad. My mouse sometimes moves erratically by itself. I'm not sure if this is a windows 8.1 issue, a hardware issue or driver issue. I have noticed that closing the monitor and then opening it again usually stops the mouse the issue temporarily.

The mouse on the touchpad hangs up intermittently, sometimes for several seconds. This erratic behavior makes using the mouse terribly difficult.
When scrolling using the mouse on a vertical scroll bar, the right click menu for the desktop keeps popping up. I must move the mouse away from the scroll bar, left click to get rid of the right click menu, and return the mouse to the scroll bar. Sometimes this behavior is constant when scrolling through a long page, making it impossible to use the mouse to scroll.
I wish to disable the touch pad on my Inspiron 1545 with Windows 8.. I have a Logitech wireless mouse. Currently both the mouse and the touch pad operate the curser. I want to only use the mouse. In Windows 7 the default was mouse only as soon as the wireless interface was installed. This is not the case with Windows 8.
I've been told to go to the Device driver and select the touch pad under Mouse and other pointers. The touch pad is not listed. I've tried disabling the PC Mouse compatible but the disable button is inactive.
I have had my refurbed e6400 for two now and keep experiencing a frozen mouse. I have seen this happen in XPSP3 as shipped and Vista Ultimate 64Bit.
When it freezes, the pointing stick nor trackpad response, but the keyboard continues to work. Only rebooting seems to fix this problem.
Anybody seen this before??
I have the latest drivers from Dell...should i be using Alps drivers from the mfg?
I purchased a XPS 1530 2 weeks ago and my Alps touchpad mouse keeps freezing for 5 to 10 seconds.
But if I keep moving my finger around on the touchpad when the mouse/pointer freezes the mouse will continue to remain frozen, or partially move in little spurts, until I take my finger off the touch pad.
The freezing occurs maybe everything 15 minutes or so.
I have called Dell twice.
Downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the Chipset, video, Bios, and Alps touchpad.
I have read other XPS owners have had similar problems but I have never seen anyone post a fix .....
This has just started to happen when booting in normal mode. I am currently typing in Safe mode as it doesn't freeze.
In normal mode the PC may or maybe not work for a while then it will freeze, I can still move the mouse cursor but nothing can/will be selected. I had task manager running and CPU was high load but not 100% and RAM wasn't maxxed either but an svchost.exe is taking around 50% CPU when idle
I just got around to trying out this laptop from a few years back. It was stored and before that it had only been used a few times.
It's been freezing *every* time I use it. Mouse just freezes in place and it's stuck. I tried doing a fresh install with all of the system disks and it still froze. I then tried to upgrade it to Windows 7, it still froze and it was pretty slow, so I did another fresh install with the system disks. Now I'm back to WinXP and it's still freezing.
I checked the event logs and it doesn't seem to register anything - maybe freezing too quickly? It seems to freeze whenever I do heavy web browsing or transferring files on my network via wireless, But I can't be sure and that might be a false lead, it just seems to happen when I'm doing those.
I think it may be a broken fan, The center fan runs smoothly, but the fan with the cooling unit on the side never seems to run at all. Is there any way to tell if the fan is broken? Is there any way to manually make it run so I can check if it's working? Should it be on all the time, or does it only come on when it gets hot?
Also, this solution doesn't work:"All u need to do, is right click Communication headphones, and click Disable.right click Sound button on taskbar> playback devices now you have speakers and headphones selected as default device, and communication headphones seleted as default communication device."The communication headphones have been disabled, but the speakers still play alongside the headphones.
I think part of the problem is that the playback device is "Speakers and headphones", but I can't split this into two separate devices for the life of me. if I disable "Speakers and Headphones" and enable "Communication headphones", the problem fixes itself and then introduces new problems: certain programs requiring sound output do not work, and the volume-changing buttons on my keyboard don't change the volume.
I have IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC (as a driver?).I can't remember what I did before this happened. I suspect it was the audio driver update, but that's a wild guess.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis doesn't always happen, but I've noticed a few times on my T440p that when I have headphones plugged in, sounds comes out of the speakers. The headphones are functional and fully plugged in, yet no sound comes out of them, and the sound comes out of the speakers. I've fixed this multiple times by unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in.
(My problem differs from this one, where sounds comes from both the headphones and speakers)....
This touch pad sucks! I just got the new XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook and I have always loved the XPS now regretting that I did not go with the Macbook....
The touch pad is rarely seems to work correctly even after I have adjust the settings and it is constantly freezing up for 10-20 seconds and I have to right click several times to get it to unfreeze. Really irritating! The only way to get around this is to use a USB mouse.
I've had problems with my M4400's Alps touchpad sporadically freezing/locking up, ever since I received it a week ago. I saw the same problems in Windows XP, Vista, and in Windows 7. I did some searching around and found others also reporting problems. I was about ready to return my laptop (instead of submitting to a potential troubleshooting quagmire), but I found one suggestion that seemed worth trying.
I removed the Dell touchpad drivers (Driver Version: 7.2.101.216, Driver Date: 12/21/2008) and installed one from Toshiba's web site (Driver Version: 7.2.303.107, Driver Date: 9/19/2008). After installing the Toshiba driver, I disabled all of the touchpad "extras", including browser support, scrolling, tapping, and inertial movement. It seems to have lessened the sporadic freezing (the jury is still out on whether it improved the input lag). I have had one freezing/tracking problem since installing the Toshiba driver, but overall it seems improved over the Dell driver. I'd be very interested in knowing if it helps anyone else also having problems with their touchpad freezing up.

I have a brand new Aspire V3-371-596F. Since the first boot, I have been having problems with the touchpad freezing randomly. The two finger sroll is reversed and I cannot access any settings to change the direction, either. I downloaded the suggested Synaptics driver from the Acer website, but Windows will not let me install the driver for the touchpad.
When I go into Device Manager -> Mice and other pointing devices, there is only one device listed: HID-compliant mouse. It says the manufacturer is Microsoft, and not Synaptics. When I try to Update Driver, I select the downloaded Synaptic driver it says the best driver for my device is already installed.
How do I tell the computer that it does not have a Microsoft mouse installed so I can use the correct Synaptics driver?
I should also mention that a Synaptics HID Device does show up under Device Manager -> Human Interface Devices. However, windows does not seem to recognize that this device is the mouse.
I've had a Dell Studio 1537 P8400 @ 2.26 GHz with 3 GB ram, Vista 32-bit OS since December last year, and only in the past couple of months have i had a few problems, much to my disappointment that Dell hasn't increased their quality..
I've noticed a little "blemish" behind the screen, like a little cluster of dust 0.5mm in diameter, but its BEHIND the text and graphics...quite strange but such a pain as its in the middle-left of the screen..there's also another, half the size right up the top..
I have a Dell Inspiron PP41L when I turn it on I get the power light but nothing else. I can not hear the fan running and it has a black screen. I tried a hard reset, new battery, and charger.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought inspiron N5110 laptop from about 8 months from middle east. From 5 months when I came to USA the laptop stop working. I tried to send it to dell as it was still in the warranty but they refused to take it because it had not an international warranty. I sent it to a technician in USA who told me that the motherboard is overheated. I got a motherboard that has the same part number and install it in the laptop.
The problem is that when I power it on some times the screen not display anything although it logs in windows as I hear the sound, and sometimes it log to windows and after about 15 min the screen stop working.
I do not know why it do this is this a problem in the new motherboard? or in the CPU?
My touchpad keeps freezing. I've been forced to system restore twice which is annoying. What are my options....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Vista (it was free). The onboard mouse buttons and touchpad work fine in Vista 64. My problem is that I always use an external mouse. When I'm typing and my palm hits the touchpad my cursor moves. In Vista 32 bit I could set the onboard mouse buttons and trackpad to switch off in the Dell touchpad driver whenever an external mouse is plugged in. There is no 64 bit Vista driver to download from Dell. How do I turn this touchpad off?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed this problem with my studio 1537, I usually use a external bluetooth mouse at home, but I don't bring it to school. When I do use the mouse I disable the mouse touchpad.
However the problem is that if i kept the mouse on and connected and allow the laptop to sleep, when I turn it on the next day at school I don't have mine external mouse with me and the touchpad is still disabled, which I thought it would have automatically enable itself since it doesn't detect an external mouse.
I was just wondering if anyone does this and might have already figured out a way to solve the problem. So far the only way I can fix this problem at school without using external mouse is to restart the laptop all over after I wake it up from sleep first.
I had to buy a replacement HP AC adapter because the original one stopped working. So I went out and bought the HP 90w AC/Auto/Air Smart Adapter (The box says 8510p is compatible).
When I plug in the laptop, the touchpad seems to go out of whack and jumps around at times. When I remove the AC power, the touchpad works perfectly.
There are a couple of differences written on the back of the adapters:
Output (Original Adapter): 19V / 4.74A
Output (Replacement): 19.5V / 4.62A
It is an Authentic HP replacement part (KS474AA #ABA / 481197-002).
