My dell xps 15 is freezing with an abnormal buzz sound while gaming. no keys are working then, have to shut down by holding down the power button. This happens only when gaming(till now). Its just out of warranty and the problems started. I can't understand the problem. did f12 diagnostics, but no error.

I've been having a lot of issues with my Dell XPS L502X lately. A few months back my laptop started freezing after a few minutes of playing Skyrim, with the audio stuttering/looping on the last noise. I struggled with various fixes I found on the internet specifically intended for either Skyrim or the Dell XPS L502X. Since my laptop often became hot enough. So I contacted Dell support, and they sent an onsite technician to replace my motherboard (along with the built-in 2GB Nvidia GT540M GPU, and the cooling fan. I also looked into doing a factory restore on my laptop.Once the motherboard etc was replaced I proceeded to install the latest drivers for my GPU, as well as updating the BIOS. Not only did the replaced motherboard and fan not work, but now even more games, some of them older games...
I seem to be experiencing a common issue with the L502X Dell computer, in which it freezes when playing games on any graphics settings. My computer freezes and a loud buzzing noise happens and the last playing noise is looped, and the only way to stop the noise is through a hard reset. I'm pretty sure that the motherboard is the problem as many others on the forum have had almost identical problems which were solved with a motherboard replacement. I have updated all my drivers/BIOS and even done a complete system reformat, but the freezing still occurs.
I have even had my laptop on a cooling pad to try and minimize the heat it produces but the parts have still failed.
I bought my laptop around a year and a half ago, I've been trying to fix this problem for months now. While playing pretty much all video games, whether through Steam, CD or through downloading, at random times while playing my computer will freeze, the sound will start to bug out and there is nothing I can do but manually shut down my computer. My warranty has expired and I am not sure what to do. I've done some reading about under-clocking my CPU and I have no interest in doing that. I keep my drivers and everything up to date so I'm pretty damn sure that this is not a software problem. I want to avoid replacing my motherboard and I will only do so if there is no other option. I am thinking of replacing my hard drive with an SSD
View 4 Replies View RelatedI own a dell xps 15 l502x with an i7-2630 processor,6 gb ram and a nvidia gt540m 2gb graphics card.My laptop crashes/freezes very frequently while playing games like modern warfare 3 ,max payne 3,ghost recon future soldier etc.I have to force shut down as i cannot end the process from tash manager even by using programs like killprocess.If i shut down normally with the process still running the light on the power button stays on till i hold it down and power off manually.All my drivers are up to date and i don't overclock my graphics card and run all games on optimal settings.I've read that reports like this are not uncommon with this laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, I'm finding that when I come back to it there will be a BSOD with the message DPC Watchdog Violation showing. I've also noticed that sometimes the laptop will become frozen on going to sleep or hibernating. The only way to get it to completely shut down it by holding the power button down.
I've updated to the latest bios and drivers on the Dell Drivers Support site and am at my wits end now.
I have a HP 15-r011dx Notebook PC with windows 8.1 and when on youtube or CNN videos, the speakers carack and pop. The commercials that CNN play prior to the story are fine as is a DVD or my loaded music. I relly do not want to reinstall. I have had the computer 3 weeks and I am not sure if it has been there from the beginning. I have updated everything from HP including BIOS and have tried a different browser and adjusted volume levels. Windows has done updates.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst my Macbook DVD drive was broken, sent back to store and decided to upgrade to a Macbook Pro while this was possible. This MBP now seems to be having problems with the videocard: when I play a game, within minutes the laptop starts revving up the fans to the highest speed (might be normal?) and a few minutes after that, the game/laptop just freezes. This is with Hallife2, Left4Dead and others.
I'm losing ALL confidence in Apple. Is it normal for the fans to start blowing that quickly after starting a game? And is there a know issue with MBP's locking up after a few minutes (due to overheating?)
Having an issue with my Envy. As soon as I got the machine I installed a SSD and clean copy of Win7. Drivers were downloaded from the thread in this forum section. The computer seems completely fine, temps are well within normal range (68c load CPU 74c load GPU). Besides the crashes, I have not experienced any other sort of instability with this machine.
The issue is an annoying hard lockup-my games will completely lock up and go into an infinite sound loop. The only remedy is a hard reset-I can not access the task manager or any other Windows functions. This happens at seemingly random, whether it be 5 minutes into a match or 2 hours in. The crash is not being triggered by heat-my system stays very cool, even during gaming.
The crashes seem to happen in any 3D game (but not furmark, for some reason)-at first I thought it was an issue with Bad Company 2, but after having time to muck around, I've realized that it is happening in all my games (including Just Cause 2, Team Fortress 2, GTAIV, Trackmania, Battlefield 2, etc).
I can't think of any reason why this is happening-I have a relatively clean Windows installation (need to save space on SSD) and up to date drivers. The only program I run in the background is NOD32, which has not given me any issues in the past with my other machines (I have tried disabling NOD32, to no avail).
My best guess is that it is video driver related. I have tried the Catalyst 10.4 driver from HPs website, as well as the 10.x ALL 8.74 beta driver-the 8.74 driver unlocks more resolution options and fixes BC2 load times, but both drivers are susceptible to the crash.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen recently having a problem with my M1730. On occasion my screen has been making a buzzing noise, accompanied by a major lag spike (this seems to be more frequent when I play games, but it still seldom happens when I'm not).
I don't believe that this problem happened -BEFORE- enabling SLI after installing Windows 7 (but with SLI off my FPS isn't so good).
I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be? It's very troublesome, and I am desperately searching for a remedy. I have all my drivers and what not up to date. Has anyone run into this problem? Anyone know what it might be?
I have a Dell Studio 1558 and I have some concern about my power brick. The brick itself makes a light sizzling, buzzing or light crunchy noise which isn't continuous, but is causing me concern. The computer itself, also makes a similar noise when doing stuff like scrolling down a page in an internet browser. Every time I press the down arrow and it loads new images, it makes a brief sizzling noise.
When my computer was brand new I brought this up with tech-support and they gave me a new power brick but the noise never went away. I took a day off work to stay at home and waited for a tech to come to my house so I haven't complained about it since then. It seems to be an intermittent issue, some days its worse than others, and I've had this computer for about 2-3 years now.
Have there been any recalls on the power supplies for my computer? Aside from making a noise, I haven't noticed any decline in my computers performance, I'm just worried about it shocking me or frying some of the components inside the computer!
My HP DV2000 yesterday started making a mind-numbingly loud buzzing noise (I have been using earplugs) as soon as it was turned on. From my research, the best I can tell is that it's being caused by a loose or faulty speaker cable. I've tried all of the obvious software fixes (drivers, system restore, muting, etc.) and nothing affects the noise. If I pull out the power cable, the pitch lowers, which I assume is because of the reduced power coming from the battery versus the power cable.
I have a reasonable amount of mechanical aptitude and have performed a number of hardware repairs on desktop computers. Does anyone know if detaching the speaker cable (if that's the solution) would be a simple enough thing to do, or should I just not even try, and take it to a professional? I've looked at the maintenance and repair manual, and it does look like a fair amount of work...
I have a set of 6 new T440s laptops along with Ultradocks. I ordered 2 sets of 3, with a month inbetween. I am having a problem where all of my Ultradocks produce a very loud buzzing noise from the connected speakers whenever the laptop is turned off or undocked. If the laptop is docked and powered on, everything sounds fine. I have contacted support and they are sending me a replacement dock, but since the issue is so consistent and effects all my docks.

Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation.Connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher.I've never used the battery badly. I always charge it to a 100% and then disconnect the charger and use the charge down to 7% until it asks me to plug in the charger. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting the charger or trying switching on and off the switch until it starts detecting my charger. I updated my bios to the latest version but nothing works. My laptop is still in the warranty till 22-05-2013.
We had problems with our laptop XPS 15 (L502X). It froze often, we were unable to switch it off properly, etc. In the shop they told me McAfee caused the problem, so they uninstalled it. Then they started to check the harddrive, after 20% they found already 7 bad sectors. Now they suggest to ´close´ these bad sectors. But we´re using the laptop and it seems to work well. Do you recommend having the bad sectors repaired or closed or should we change the hard drive completely? Can the bad sectors do any harm?

This constant on/off of the fan starts even if I just open Firefox, Windows Media Player, Office or any other software. There's no need to play games for hours. Just to clarify: the fan starts even if the laptop is completely cold and I have just turned it on.
I tried everything: I updated the BIOS drivers, I updated the NVIDIA drivers, I modified the properties of the fan control following the suggestions of some users. In short, I did everything I found on the previous threads but nothing worked!
Do I have to contact the support and plan a sostitution of the fan? I mean, I read tens of post like mine, is that possible that a definitive solution has not been found yet?
I purchased a Dell XPS l502x a while back, and neither the service tag nor the express service code has worked in over six months. I’m also unable to email tech support about this issue.
When I’m prompted to submit either number, I receive the following error, "We were unable to verify the Service Tag or Express Service Code you have entered. Please verify your entry or choose one of the options to the right. If you recently purchased a system, please try again in 48 hours.".
The laptop has even been removed from “My Products and Services” and I’ve been unsuccessful in re-adding the system.
So a few weeks back, one of the two usb ports on my DELL XPS L502X fell backwards inside the socket, making it unreachable. That wasn't a big issue since I still had one perfectly fine usb port. This morning, when i tried using my wireless mouse (that had its receiver inside the 1 working port), it din't work. I replaced the cells but it still did not work. I put in another usb stick and the computer wouldn't recognize it. It acted as if there was nothing there at all.
When I check my USB port statuses from the device manager, it shows that both the hubs are working. I cannot understand what is going on. The port doesn't have any visible damage, and it looks perfectly normal but doesn't work.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with 8600GT. I wanted to buy a 5.1 speaker set but it would be of no use as 1520 does not have 3 audio jacks while the 1525 and XPS 1530 has 5.1 output.
I was just wondering, if it was possible to somehow get an extra audio jack outside the laptop by checking if a header pin for a third audio jack exists on the motherboard since the audio chip is HD audio and motherboard design would be similar to 1525 and XPS 1530
I lot of people have openend up their systems and taken a look at the audio circuitry to fix the static noise coming from the headphone jacks. Did anyone notice if a third audio jack could be soldered to the motherboard to get 5.1 audio.
I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'

Battery backup was around 2.5 to hours on normal use and 1.5-2 hours if I used to hear song or watch movie. But after I have installed windows 8 the heating problem has started, battery backup has dropped. It gives around 50 minutes on hearing songs and around 30 minutes on watching movies and around 1.5 hours on normal use.

How to remove the bios password on an XPS 15 L502X? my sister just bought a used one but the owner can't recall the bios password since he did it when it was new and it's been 3 years since. when I press f2 for bios settings it asks to enter password/unlock key and below it says Unlock key hint number 21F1B00C, don't know what that is.
