Dell XPS L502X :: Unbearable Fan Noise

I have an XPS L502X laptop.A few months ago, probably just one month after the expiry of the warranty, the fan started to make an unbearable noise. This constant on/off of the fan starts even if I just open Firefox, Windows Media Player, Office or any other software. There's no need to play games for hours. Just to clarify: the fan starts even if the laptop is completely cold and I have just turned it on.
I tried everything: I updated the BIOS drivers, I updated the NVIDIA drivers, I modified the properties of the fan control following the suggestions of some users. In short, I did everything I found on the previous threads but nothing worked!
Do I have to contact the support and plan a sostitution of the fan? I mean, I read tens of post like mine, is that possible that a definitive solution has not been found yet?

I have a Dell XPS L502X laptop and lately I keep hearing this loud short little "squeak" noise coming from where the fan is sometimes. I have confirmed it is not the hard drive acting up as I have run a diagnostic program to check HD health and it is fine, but I have the feeling something is up with the fan. Would the fan have to be replaced? It seems to be working properly but that noise makes me worried something is up.

my laptop is 1 week old and the fan constantly switches on and off, its under no load just idling, its a very loud and annoying problem, when I spoke to Dell they claim to have no knowledge of the problem, how can this be when a search shows up plenty on the subject.
they sent a technician out with a new fan but did not bother to replace because it will not solve the problem.
they are sending a new replacement, but I think it will have the same problem.
its a shame because I love the XPS, Dell need to get there act together and solve the problem.
my laptop came with latest bios and still has fan problem.

i bought my dell xps L502X last june but recently my battery is giving me problems. sometimes when i connect my charger i get the following pop up. The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge.
Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation.Connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher.I've never used the battery badly. I always charge it to a 100% and then disconnect the charger and use the charge down to 7% until it asks me to plug in the charger. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting the charger or trying switching on and off the switch until it starts detecting my charger. I updated my bios to the latest version but nothing works. My laptop is still in the warranty till 22-05-2013.

We had problems with our laptop XPS 15 (L502X). It froze often, we were unable to switch it off properly, etc. In the shop they told me McAfee caused the problem, so they uninstalled it. Then they started to check the harddrive, after 20% they found already 7 bad sectors. Now they suggest to ´close´ these bad sectors. But we´re using the laptop and it seems to work well. Do you recommend having the bad sectors repaired or closed or should we change the hard drive completely? Can the bad sectors do any harm?

I purchased a Dell XPS l502x a while back, and neither the service tag nor the express service code has worked in over six months. I’m also unable to email tech support about this issue.
When I’m prompted to submit either number, I receive the following error, "We were unable to verify the Service Tag or Express Service Code you have entered. Please verify your entry or choose one of the options to the right. If you recently purchased a system, please try again in 48 hours.".
The laptop has even been removed from “My Products and Services” and I’ve been unsuccessful in re-adding the system.

So a few weeks back, one of the two usb ports on my DELL XPS L502X fell backwards inside the socket, making it unreachable. That wasn't a big issue since I still had one perfectly fine usb port. This morning, when i tried using my wireless mouse (that had its receiver inside the 1 working port), it din't work. I replaced the cells but it still did not work. I put in another usb stick and the computer wouldn't recognize it. It acted as if there was nothing there at all.
When I check my USB port statuses from the device manager, it shows that both the hubs are working. I cannot understand what is going on. The port doesn't have any visible damage, and it looks perfectly normal but doesn't work.

I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'

Why is it that almost 3 months after the launch on Windows 8, the driver having compatibility with the windows 8 gestures have still not been launched in the Dell US site? It is present in the netherlands site of Dell, but I cannot ge the left edge swipe (to switch between programs) and the 4 finger swipe (to bring up the instant viewer or desktop) to work.

I have installed windows 8 on my system last month. Till Windows 7 was installed everything was fine. Battery backup was around 2.5 to hours on normal use and 1.5-2 hours if I used to hear song or watch movie. But after I have installed windows 8 the heating problem has started, battery backup has dropped. It gives around 50 minutes on hearing songs and around 30 minutes on watching movies and around 1.5 hours on normal use.

Basically yesterday the battery charging light started flashing 4 orange then 1 white, and when I booted up it would say that the battery is not at an optimal running tempreture
It wouldn't the charge the battery but once I started using it and got the battery to about 90% charge then plugged it in it would start charging with no issues till it was 99% charged

How to remove the bios password on an XPS 15 L502X? my sister just bought a used one but the owner can't recall the bios password since he did it when it was new and it's been 3 years since. when I press f2 for bios settings it asks to enter password/unlock key and below it says Unlock key hint number 21F1B00C, don't know what that is.

Is there anyway to get the TouchPad features for Windows 8 on a XPS 15 L502x? Used them on a Windows 8 Laptop today, and i want them too! I tried installing the Dell Windows 7 Drivers, and the original Synaptics Drivers.. both didn't work really hate this touchpad and their existing drivers..

I own a Dell XPS L502x. For the past couple of months, if I reboot or close the laptop lid, the touchpad is automatically disabled and I have to enable it to use it again. It never used to do this. Is there a way to shut off or 'disable' this automatic disabling action?

My laptop (XPS L502X) doesn't turn on anymore.
I used to run it on the AC adapter anyway since my battery malfunctioned long time back.It was working fine until one day out of nowhere it refused to start up.Then after a day I tried again and it did turn on. Used it for a few hours and then shut it down. And again when I tried to start it, it didn't. Also, I once closed the lid when it was on and it lost the power as opposed to shutting down. What could be the problem?

My Dell stops to boot in all devices. No boot from DVD, HD, LAN or USB. The system boots every time and when i try to enter in bios using F2 ou F12 to check boots again. I got a problem in BIOS? How can i reset?

I cannot find those in the official dell drivers download page.
Without those drivers, my touch is not double touch to scroll up/down.

I plugged my HDMI cable into the computer today with the intention of duplicating the display on to my TV. When I do this the TV screen shows like I selected extend. I can extend the monitor and use the projector only setting, but duplicating does not work. I changed the Intel Graphics Options and the NVIDIA Control panel neither have worked. I have updated the bios, the NVIDIA and the Integrated drivers. I have even changed the resolution on both my computer and the TV with no fix.
What's the weirdest thing about this problem is that I have used this exact HDMI cable to this exact TV before and I didn't need to change a single setting and it worked great. I also took an ASUS laptop and plugged it in and used the FN + screen key, just like I would usually do with my Dell and the ASUS worked great.
I read a post on here that said when they update their BIOS it fixed this problem, although the post had other people that were not that lucky.

I have a DELL XPS L502X with recently its hard disk not getting detected a week ago... With some movement or so ... It finally detected .. This happened to me 3 times earlier but probably after an hour or so .. It was back to normal... But this time the same thing repeated , it could not move Out of boot ... I found that from boot menu it shows FIXED HDD : none , which tells the hard disk is not getting detected ..

I lost my laptop (DELL XPS 15 L502x), I think it was stolen. I wrote a message to the police, they asked me model, serial number and MAC addresses of both network cards. In laptop service documents I found everything except MAC adresses. I tryed to ask dell support, but can't find email of something, message on web site tell me "YOUR DELL PRODUCT IS OUT OF WARRANTY" (warranty expired month ago) .

I've owned my Dell XPS L502x for over 3 year (thus, I am out of my warranty period) and recently it has stopped being able to charge. I am completely tethered to the AC power adapter to use it as I'm on 0% battery and have an inability to charge it. I am on windows 8.As well as my inability to charge the laptop, I have noticed the following things:The battery meter states that 'system cannot communicate with the battery ' when I hover over the battery icon in the task bar.4 orange and 1 white lights are flashing on the battery indicator above my charging port and above my keyboard, when the charger is plugged in.
I had the same problem last year and as my battery was about 2 years old at that time so i replaced it in September 2013 and the problem was solved.
Now as this battery is only 15 months old i am not sure if the problem is with battery or the AC adapter?
I do not have any other battery or adapter to check it.

I just plugged my Samsung camcorder into my XPS with the HDMI cable - & nothing happened. I turned the cam on & off several times but no dice. I was expecting a 'live-stream' visual, bit like a web cam. The USB3 connection works instantly but that's just for conveying static files, I want to see what the cam is seeing but on the larger laptop screen, or on the preview screen in Movie Maker.
The XPS specifications are vague, they don't tell me if this HDMI port is in or out? They are also vague about whether a camcorder can connect or not to the laptop.

I am using Dell XPS 15 L502x model from past 18 months. Suddenly I noticed mu battery indicator is blinking in orange and white color while it was charging. So just opened More Power options and found that "Battery is temporarily disabled" message. So shut down my device and opened the battery and again insert it. Then I try to switch on my device and found that battery is temporarily disabled due to high temperature but it was in normal room temperature.
So I start observing the issue and found that while the device charging level reached to 98 -99 %, it starts blinking. if I turned off battery charging then when it reached to 94-92 % level it start behaving as a normal condition and also blinking is stopped. The device has a 9 cell battery in it and still I'm getting more than 4 hours of back up in normal working load.

My dell xps L502x turned off suddenly and now wont start at all. On pressing the power button, its light blinks once so does the light of the CD rom blinks just once thats it, no display, no keyboard lights, just the blinking of the power button and cd rom! is it about the hard disk or my motherboard or the memory modules, or the graphic card???

My dell xps 15 is freezing with an abnormal buzz sound while gaming. no keys are working then, have to shut down by holding down the power button. This happens only when gaming(till now). Its just out of warranty and the problems started. I can't understand the problem. did f12 diagnostics, but no error.
