I just got my new Dell Inspiron 5523 laptop last week and have noticed that it will frequently just shut down on me. It isn't plugged in, doesn't feel hot and I don't even have anything up but IE. What is going on? A brand new laptop shouldn't be acting this way...

I had just closed it the other night after charging it. Then there was nothing - no boot, no LED with charger, no fan. I checked and the charger is definitely functioning, so I worry that this is a problem with the motherboard.
Since it's an ultrabook, I haven't been able to remove flea power since the battery is embedded into the laptop.I wonder if it would be possible for a technician to come have a look at it ASAP?
I am trying to reinstall Windows 8 on my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I recently got the restore media from Dell with a Windows 8 install disk, but the disk does not have drivers present to access the hard drive/SSD array. Every time I try to install it, it says there is a driver missing.
I originally had tried to restore the system, and I reformatted the hard drive with Dell's utility, but then I ran into a problem because the Dell utility to create recovery media only produced one disk (it did not give me the system image, so I had nothing to restore).
I cannot get Windows 8 reinstalled (nor any other version of Windows) on it. What do I need to do to load the HDD/SDD RAID Drivers on the computer to install Windows?
I would boot from USB but the USB device doesn't appear in the list of bootable device.... I also upgrade my bios to the latest version: A02 but it doesn't solve the problem.... What could I do?
Also I was thinking to upgrade using a bios of similar model like the XPS 15z, could give problem use a different model bios?
I bought this 15z 5523 in 2012 with i3 and Windows 8 mainly because of WiDi but since then haven't been able to install it. Not sure what am I supposed to do as each time I get a message stating my wireless adapter is not supported.
When I did a check, learnt I have Dell wireless 1703 802.11 network adapter is not supported for Intel WiDi. I am not sure how can I enable my laptop for WiDi. .

Question 1 - Is it going to be possible to get a Windows 7 Pro Compatible Driver for the above items?

Question 3 - In addition to the SATA Hard Drive it also has a 32GB Solid State Drive which I understand is used for caching. Will the SSD also be compatible with Windows 7 and provide the same function automatically?
Today suddenly when I press the power button laptop wont turn on at all. It is also plugged in.
I hear people saying when this happens they say remove the battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds but the battery is built in and not removable
Any way my laptop is just 5 months years old and what might causes this problem now?
I'm facing the similar issue on my laptop Insipiron15Z 5523.
Before the issue got popped up, i was ran into waves in the screen and it was persisted for more than a minute so i thought of something went wrong and made forced Shut down by long pressing the power button.
Enclosed the image for quick diagnostics.
Then again i was attempted to switch on my lap,following odd things happened.
1.After switching on, LED lights of Power button,favorites,Music were flashed - usual - nothing got worked.
2.Not got any response, after sometime i heard long beep sound at equal intervals without gap.
3.Beep sound never shuts down and i press the power button in single stroke,machine got switched(not long press)
4.Next time i was attempt to run for diagnostics mode like pressing the F2 & F3 button,no use.
My Laptop is non responsive and am not getting any indications on my screen.
I've recently bought an Inspiron 15Z 5523 (Win 8) and started experiencing ghost clicks on the touch screen (primarily on the left side of the screen). Once it starts happening, it pretty much makes it impossible to use the laptop since it starts to click/zoom/scroll randomly continuously. Leaving it alone wont fix it. I have to turn off the laptop via the power button and the problem fixes itself sometimes after turning it back on, but at other times, have to leave it off for longer. I have also tried wiping the screen clean, but doesn't work either.
How can I disable the touch screen temporarily?
Inspiron Ultrabook 15z 5523...A few of my keyboard keys, including the spacebar, stopped working for 48 hours (estimate). I tried everything I could think of and everything support told me to do. restarted. nope. support program that checks keyboard: nothing. Suddenly keys work again, but in the process Dell sent out a guy to replace the keyboard. He replaced it. The new keyboard just did the same thing. Must be a hardware, motherboard issue or something. I have the user manual that shows how to replace this battery (after taking everything apart!) which looks do-able. But I can't find out what kind of coin cell battery I need to buy for replacement.
Trying to resolve why laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.

It has occurred to me that there's an issue with either my Dell Inspiron 3520 Laptop Computer or my Windows 8.1/Windows 8 OS. Occasionally, running the computer (sometimes when it's overheating or just when unplugging the laptop), the computer just crashes, i.e. Screen goes black, power light and HDD light stays on for a about 2 seconds before powering off. No blue screen, no warning, no updates. There's was no reason for it to go off, but it did. It's frustrating because:
1.) When I'm working/playing a game/hosting a multi-player server, the computer tends to crash in the middle of it causing my work to go to waste.
2.) I believe it will damage my laptop and cause further problems in the future
I've researched a bit about this issue before and people have said that it's due to overheating, but I have proven that this is not the case for me as I have placed my PC beside a fan where it kept a steady temperature of about 50-65 Degrees Celsius and I've still faced the issue.
My Dell inspiron n5010(4 years old) is getting auto shutdown after 3-4 minutes.. I have noticed that my cooling fan is not working continuously... It frequently starts and working for 2-3 sec then again stops .. again after sometimes it gets started.... I have already opened up my laptop and cleaned all the dust ... but the story continues... should I have to replace heat-sink?

I bought an Inspiron 15 7000 series about a week ago. From the very beginning, the wifi is not working properly. It takes too much time to connect and also disconnects automatically frequently. Sometimes it shows only limited connectivity. I have updated the drivers but no change so far. All other devices in home are working properly.

In 2 minutes, my computer shut down, i tried to start computer by power button, but it shut down in 1 sec... just flashing. After 1 minute i started computer..I upgraded BIOS, install recommended drivers also i have cooling pad which i using on HDDs.
OS: Windows 8 x64..I think it's HDD or Mainboard overheating or maybe CPU, because it has 85C too.
My laptop just shut down on me out of nowhere. The battery wasn't low, in fact it had just finished charging. It wouldn't turn back on until I plugged it back in and tried. The battery is at 86%, not charging. The battery indicator light flashes red 4 times, then white then off.
It can now only run when it is plugged in. I can start my laptop and it runs fine while plugged in but as soon as it is unplugged, it shuts off.
I assume this is a hardware issue and what caused it. Nonetheless, I used the diagnostic tools provided and found no issue and tried a system restore to no avail.
My laptop is a few weeks out of warranty (classic)...
Recently, I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 1420 as it's often freeze and auto shut down or restart. When it freezes, my screen will appear many small black pixels which are scattered around the desktop.
During the restart process, the system will require me to choose one of the few options available (eg. Start Windows Normally) as it stated there that the laptop was not shut down properly.
Remarks: My Dell Inspiron 1420 is equipped with NVidea 8400M GS.
My Inspiron 15 3521 just started with the boot problems and beeping. It is not consistent in when it will boot up. If it doesn't boot up, which is most of the time, it will beep. One single beep about every 2 seconds with a black screen, until I power it off. I have run hardware diagnostics and it passed. I have refreshed my pc, didn't work.

View 5 Replies View Related I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a Intel Celeron Processor and the past year my cpu has been overheating and eventually causing my laptop to shutoff. This happens a lot quicker if playing graphics intensive games or playing youtube videos. I want a processor that can handle playing games and videos.
Also, one thing I was thinking was that maybe a fan stopped working that is causing the CPU to over heat but when I run a Dell diagnostic no errors come up about a fan not working, so I'm thinking I just need to upgrade.

The screen shows shutting down, the screen and the hard drive turns off, but the power light and fan stay on until the battery dies in the laptop. I hold the power button and everything shuts off. When booting, I do not get the windows improperly shut down error the I normally get when I just hold the power button to shut off the computer so I suspect the operating system is shut down! I have tried updating bios to A13, video drivers, Chipset drivers, and Windows 8.1, The laptop passes all diagnostics.I even tried admin command prompt and "shutdown /s /f /h 0" command with no different results. Changed all settings in Control Panel to enable sleep and/or hibernate. I downloaded KB hot-fix which says it is for Windows 7 as another test.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.
