Jan 19, 2010It's been 24 hours since I ordered a laptop at Dell and I still haven't received an order confirmation, is that normal? I did get the receipt that my order has been received, but no confirmation mail, when I log in to see the status, the system finds nothing.
Is this normal after 24 hours?
Dell :: Configuring An M6400 Online
Dec 30, 2008I am playing around with configuring a Dell Precision M6400 online and I'm confused about a couple of things. In the ad copy on the website it says that laptop can have up to 16GB of RAM, but when you try to configure the laptop on Dell's website it only shows up to 4GB. Also, I see no option for Vista 64-bit to take advantage of more RAM.
Do you have to call about these features, or am I just stupid and missing it on the website?
Also, I assume adding your own RAM is easy on these machines? Does it void the warranty? Because I assume the thing to do is buy it with the least amount of RAM and add your own aftermarket, correct?

Oct 30, 2009I had a dell inspiron that was changed to a precision system and i tried going to the online tech support but they do not give tech support to precision systems which i kind of find annoying as my landline is my cell phone and going thru tech support during the day kills my minutes.

Dec 9, 2009Until last week this lappy had the old 80Gb HD and Win XP Pro SP3. I play several online games (Silkroad Online, Battlefield Europe, Steam games) and they all played great.
After 4yrs it had some major issue last week that I couldn't recover from, so I picked up a WD Blue 250GB HD and had Win 7 Home Premuim (bought 4 copies for all the PC's here)
After much driver searching, everything works awesome on it except my games. The keep doing a Pause - Pause - Pause. I have been digging into everything, all sorts of video drivers, etc and nothing has helped. Wonder if its something with the Dell 1350 or Broadcom 440x controller. I've looked for the latest drivers from all over but nothing has helped. Surfing, Videos, Office 2007 all work great. It never crashes.
Any ideas? I tend to think its something in the network part of it. Note, my much older and less powerful desktop is running Win 7 RC and has no issues with games. (I race in several rFactor Leagues)
Also the network here is very solid, a Buffalo 54G and all the laptops connect great, and like I said - no issues gaming with Win XP before.

Nov 19, 2009Should I place the order for SXPS16 online or through a Dell agent ?
I had a chat with a agent today and asked, If he can give some discount on my online config ? He was ready to give discount of $50 on $1250 config and $75 on $1394 config ! Is it worth (means should I bargain more with him :-) ) and safe to place the order through the agent ?
Unfortunately till now there is no substantial discount offered from Dell for black Friday or holiday season

Feb 4, 2013My XPS L702x recently slows down when i play video online or play game. My configuration is: i7 2630QM, GT555M, 6 GB.i played video online and played game ( Skyrim, COD, A.V.A online) smoothly. But for 2, 3 months ago, my laptop slows down and spikes very much. When i watch video online, the screen will freeze 3 to 8 seconds but the sound is still playing. And all games that have run smoothly before, now they lagged too much, for example in Skyrim, when i start a conversation with a NPC, the game will freezes 2,3 seconds, and in the combat it freezes everytime when there's a sound is played (i.e screams, sound of sword slashing, footstep).
I have Microsoft Security Ess, no Semantec, Kaspersky, Norton ... And i have re-installed the Win 7 ultimate, but nothing is fixed, i've updated all my drivers, BIOS, Graphic card, sound card, wifi.i can't do anything with my laptop now, even opening Google Chrome is not easy. I'm really stressed.My battery is broken, i use my laptop on AC adapter only, perhaps this is the cause but i don't think so. Because i have a HP Pavillion and the battery is out too, but the HP is not slowing down.

Mar 22, 2013My Laptop has developed a series of problems. When I am on IE9 I can not access any webpages via the search engine. Also I keep getting a Script error message when I try to print online. I have done complete scans etc and checked Internet Option settings to no avail. I have got to the point were I want to do a complete recovery. When I put the first disc in the computer opens up in the normal fashion. I have tried to download the updated BIOS driver, but I get to Download Manager, run the program, and nothing else happens.

Have windows 8.1..I am using Wi-Fi, here's a screenshot of my drivers.I dont have this problem in another city, where I'm studying(I insert cable there for connection(campus network)).Also here at home, my brother has the exact same computer and w8.1 and he doesnt have any connection issues.
I dont have torrents, antivirus updates or any of that going on while playing.We have maybe 4 computers and probably 1-2 phones using the net aswell, but that doesn't seem to be the case, as I said these problems should have occurred with my brother's computer aswell? Also when these devices are not in the house, I still suffer from lagspikes.

Jan 5, 2015My HP elite book 8460p will not get online , but the WiFi connection shows up fine. I am aware that I am missing three drivers in the "other" devices section.. I believe those might be the reason but I'm not sure and because I can't connect the PC to internet I have to download them manually from another laptop to a flash drive but I can't find any direct downloads without getting driver set up or driver restore.. The drivers missing are, base system device, universal serial bus (usb) &, unknown device.

Dell XPS 15Z :: Not Coming Out Of Hibernation
Dec 29, 2011I've just purchased an XPS 15Z (highest category with the 256 SSD) and face a few issues
1- the computer often does not come out of hibernation, the system cannot be restored after it goes in hibernation mode.
on several occasion I have put my laptop in hibernation mode and when I turn it back on it prompts me with a black screen and an error message giving me 2 options (1 - either try to restore files or 2- exit safe mode and cancel restore) if I chose the first option of trying to restore the files it gives me another error message which says:
"windows boot manager, your computer can't come out of hibernation - status 0xc0000411
info: a fatal error occurred processing the restoration data
file: hiberfil.sys
Any info that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost"
Therefore when I turn my computer back on, all windows and programs I had previously opened are closed and not saved
I have had to deal with this issue for over 10 times since I've had my computer (less than 5 days)...
2- overall memory problem, with approx 50 Gb missing (might be linked to my first issue)...
I haven't installed anything on my laptop except for some photos that I transferred from my old computer (accounting for 40 Gb of memory) however I have 99 Gb of used space on my SSD.... this is weird since every time I switched on my laptop there's less and less space available even though I haven't installed anything new...
I've had the computer for less than a week but both these issues keep happening...

May 28, 2009I just noticed on the most recent bios update page for the Studio XPS 16 under the the Fixes and Enhancements tab it says "support new configuration with Gfx ATI Mobility Radeon?HD 4670".
This is probably an indication that the HD 3670 is going to be replaced with the newer HD 4670 sometime soon. If you are thinking about buying a Studio XPS 16 anytime soon you might want to wait.

Feb 24, 2009I just got a Dell Studio XPS 1640 today and I am having a major issue with the speakers. It sounds as if the person who put the laptop together wired them incorrectly, the top speakers near the keyboard sounds very faint and tinny like a surround speaker on a home theater system, but the volume is very low and cannot hear it unless you put your ear up to the speakers.
