View 1 RepliesI have recently purchased Dell inspiron 15R Special Edition 7720 laptop.
1) Backlight not working, not sure whether I've this service or not because I can't see anything in Windows Mobility Centre
2) Keyboard and mouse pad works in safe mode but not in normal mode.
When I tried to remove Cypress trackpad, only mouse pad worked, not keyboard. Now only keyboard is working after Cypress trackpad reinstallation? I've tried to resolve it many times using drivers updater but failed all the time.
The touchpad on my Studio 1749 is erratic - it zooms in and out or scrolls when all I am doing is moving the cursor around the screen. I have updated drivers recently and run Dell Detect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI might have seen the numeric keypad keys work once since getting this machine, but now can't get the keys to produce numbers. Some of the keys initiate other actions not associated with numeric data entry.
I tried removing the wireless dongle for my Microsoft wireless mouse but no improvement -- I simply swapped this MS mouse from my old W510 without doing any formal install.
This doesn't appear to be a hardware problem since the keypad keys have some effect -- just not the intended effect.
i have a ACER 5101 laptop. suddenly one day my keypad and touchpad is not working,
i cant even go to Bios by pressing F2. only sometimes Fn+F6 works.
After a short period of use my xps13 first edition ceases to accept keypad inputs. I just get a ping and nothing happens. Called premium tech support and not solved. Ticket still open and machine still useless. Pity as after having had so many dell products, what should have the "wow" factor has the "whoops" factor. I have resorted to an external keyboard, but that is hardly the elegant nor portable solution for which one had hoped.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy dell inspiron 3521 keypad is not working i have updated all the software and system update is on.
i haven't installed any software, third party application or anything else like that which interferes with my keypad functioning.
I tried to update the drivers for the keyboard from device manager but it showed that the driver is already up to date.
I also checked the ribbon that connected to the keypad with the system hardware and there is no problem in the connection there also.
My acer loaded in xp as normal but my keypad and mousepad were unresponsive so i did a clean install with xp(not acer recovery) that ran through to when you do user input and froze again now i have a new hd and the same thing is happening except when i load into safe mode then everything is fine,
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my acer 5920g, I've installed XP and all drivers without problems, but my sensor keypad does not work like media buttons, but just like single click on touch pad. Which driver I've miss? I've also installed lounch manager driver and nothing happens.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow to make my keyboard entries match the keypad layout? I have tried several English keyboard layouts available from the installed files but none of them exactly match my layout. For instance one layout (English International) require a space after every " or ' before the character will appear. I can understand this as it allows for certain special characters related to other languages. If I change to plain English then the key comes out as #. I have downloaded Microsoft's keyboard mapping application but it does not seem to work in Win8. I don't get any layout diagrams when I load a keyboard file. I am pretty sure it is the layout file because an external keyboard gives the exact same characters as the Dell factory installed kbd. I know there is commercial mapping software available but I don't want to buy it and find it won't work just as Microsoft's doesn't.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen Windows is finished loading my touch and key pad seems to turn off. My device manager does not indicate any problems with either. In safe mode everything works fine. Since I did not have anything valuable stored I used the acer recovery and had it reinstall Windows fresh. After that, it seems to work fine with no problems.
Auto updates starting downloading and after updates are installed I have the same problem again. I have done this procedure a few times. I have also install AVG Anit virus and thought maybe thats what was doing, so this last time I did not re install the anti virus.
I was just wondering if there was a numerical keypad that could be slotted into the utrabay port for the t400? I find the numerical keyboard in place of the letters very difficult to use and I'd imagine that using a numpad plugged in via USB would be quite annoying if I was on public transport.

To all of you who have had or still having problem in getting your webcam to work or get detected by your laptop try this.
Almost everyone who has formatted their hard drives and/or done a clean install of the OS has come into contact with this problem from what I have read...
Uninstall all Dell webcam software and download and install ManyCam webcam software, by all accounts the Dell webcam software is the villain here.
Once this is installed your webcam should now be detected by the system and now work. ManyCam is a freeware program I have no means of testing this due to the fact all my systems are M1330 XPS.
I tried to turn it on again by pressing Fn + right arrow key on my keyboard to turn it on but the lights on my touchpad light up as well as caps lock when I turn it on but not the rest.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHi I am new to this Forum and new to laptops I have just purchased this machine, DELL STUDIO XPS M1640 Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz ,500GB,
4GB I got it new on ebay. It arrived today and everything is fine except it won't eject CD's using the highlighted touch button.
I have to go into computer and eject from there.
The machine is running Vista Ultimate. I have contacted Dell and I have to transfer the machine to my name and extend the warranty before they can help. I thought I would ask here first
the dvd drive on my studio 1535 will not accept CDs; they go in but are quickly ejected. Also the DVD drive is constantly trying to eject even when no disc is in it
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought new laptop Studio 1555 and eject key never works, now if i need to eject the CD i have to goto my computer right click on CD drive and eject,
i try to connect dell support but no luck, why this eject key not working ? is that a hardware issue or something to do with window 7 ?
1. Eject Button - I can't get either the eject button (near F12 key), or the touch eject button (that lights up) to eject any CD's. I have to go into My Computer, and right click ...and then eject it that way. Anyone know of a way to get the eject buttons to work? Should be able to use one of the eject buttons.
Note: I did try the holding the power button if for 30 seconds, and then rebooted. This didn't work for me.
2. Brightness - what FN + ? key adjusts the brightness of the screen? When the AC cord is plugged in, it's bright. When I disconnect it, it dims. I'd like to adjust the brightness to where the screen is the same brightness when it's on either AC or Battery.
the touch thingy above the keyboard just stop working, ive install the all latest drivers via the dell website and nothing
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Studio XPS 13 (aka. 1340) but Im sure this would probably be relevant for Studio XPS 16 owners as well. On the front of the system, you will notice an IR receiver which is meant to go with the Dell IR remote (which I didnt order). In the device manager, it appears as a generic Infrared HID device.
I am just wondering if anyone has been able to successfully get their Studio XPS working with an IR remote? Maybe with a Windows Media Center remote control, or perhaps get it to recognize/learn from a typical remote control you might have laying around?
Does anyone have the same experience ..

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have finally managed to compile a complete set of drivers for Windows XP Professional, seeing as Dell don't provide any for that OS.
So far, everything's been running fine for me. The graphics driver resets occasionally (just like it does on Vista) but doesn't seem to cause any problems.
I'm just glad to get rid of Vista - that was horrid!
The .zip I've compiled is 354MB
It contains the following drivers:
- Intel Chipset
- RICOH Flash Media Controller
- IDT Audio
- LAN
- Wireless LAN
- Bluetooth
- Infra-red
- AMD HDMI Audio
- Touchpad
- Webcam
- Graphics (Catalyst 8.9 - modified using Mobility Modder.NET) *
- Mobility Modder.NET
- .NET Framework (v1.1, v1.1 SP1, v2.0 and v2.0 SP1) - required for CCC and Mobility Modder.NET
I've not found Quickset drivers yet
Non-WHQL signed video drivers may hose-up blu-ray playback for those with the Optiaric BRD...
I recently updated my OS to Windows 8 but the Eject key on the keyboard doesn't work. I thought the problem would be solved by installing QuickSet but still the same. All other media keys (change display, wifi, battery, brightness, mute, volume etc) are working perfectly except the eject button.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been using a Dell Studio 1558. However, for the last 2 days, my Dell touch-pad has not been working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. I have taken the drivers from the driver disks that came with my laptop as well as the drivers from the dell website.
I have also tried using system restore to roll back to a time much before the problem had started to appear. This has not resolved the problem as the touch-pad is still not working.
On checking in the Device Manager, the device is not normally visible. when all hidden devices are seen, the Dell Touch-pad icon appears with a yellow exclamation mark.
The error code shown is "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"
I have tried to update the driver from the device properties, but i get a message that the latest driver is already installed.
I am unable to diagnose the problem.
I am using dell 1558 Windows7 64 bit computer.
there was an error showing IAStorUI has stopped working...
I know the Studio 1747 has it's fair share of Bios problems that haven't been fixed yet (naughty Dell) but the one I'm having issues with right now is that my system wont boot at all from USB.
