I running my Dell XPS in Windows 7 64 bit and recently I upgraded my realtek software from Dell website, and now I can't find either my Waves maxxaudio default software or a way to make that tactile botton to work.
View 4 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire 5100 series laptop running Windows XP home. Was wanting to use eRecovery Manager to make a full backup of my current system. I have two hard drive partitions, both 60GB in size. The C drive is almost full (onky 9GB free) but the D drive has 47.9GB free. On the "Make Backup Image" page it says that the estimated image size will be 43.96GB, and it shows the free space of the D drive as space available. The problem is that no matter what I put in for the Name of the backup, and no matter the number of characters in the save name, the program fails almost immediately with the following error:

The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..

I have uninstalled the drive thus it being reinstalled on windows restart. I used to get a flag asking what program to open with. Now to see "cd" must open in my computer. I am using Google chrome.
My Beats Audio keeps crashing when I try to open "Listening Experience". It has worked before, crashed before and began working again after I did some jiggling of things such as uninstall/reinstall driver, update/rollback driver, computer and HP troubleshooting, etc. (but I couldn't tell you what I did when or in what sequence) It has again decided to not work!

I am running Vista home premium 64 & used the 64 drivers.
Under Control Panel, Sound, Speakers and Headphones Properties, Tone Controls Tab, the Apply Button is grayed out for my Bass/Treble settings which reset to 4 every time my PC restarts if I change them. I cannot set the Bass/Treble levels permanently where I want them (Bass - 4 and Treble - 0) because the Apply Button does not work. I have two identical models of this PC with the same problem - both HP Pavilion dv6-7138us with Beats Audio and AMD cpu. Can the Apply Button be fixed? The Beats Audio Control GUI (also in Control Panel) has Bass and Treble settings that remain where set.Perhaps Beats is overriding Sound in Control Panel? I have a boxed Windows 7 32-bit installed on another PC and Sound has different control options - no Beats Audio. I would think if Beats modifies Sound controls in Control Panel, those controls should work. Otherwise, the modified Sound controls would not be there unless they are there in case Beats Audio is uninstalled or disabled? I see no way to uninstall or disable and have no desire to uninstall. IDT Audio is listed in Programs and Features.

I have a problem with my notebook. When I power my device everything is fine, but after ... let's several minutes sound disappears. The strange thing is that "mute button" on my keyboard is not responding too, when I hit it theres no orange light and one the screen appears a lvl of volume ( normally it should be a crossed volume lvl). When I want to play Spotify or something like that it says that my Audio card is used by another program... The funny thing is that when I did something like "stress test" (I played Spotify when sound worked just after system start) sound was working for about 6 hours and everything was fine.

Also I'd like to add that every system restart fixes that problem but only for a while (several minutes).
I recently purchased the studio xps 16 and did a clean install.
Every one of the touch buttons works like the sound buttons, but for some reason the eject button will not respond, and i have to go to my computer to eject a disc every time.
What was also missing was that when i adjusted the volume level, no bar would come up on my screen showing me what level it was at. Although minor problems, I was wondering if it is possibly a driver that i haven't downloaded?
I had to re-install Windows 7 64bit after forgetting the password and after I installed all of the drivers everything except for the EJECT BUTTON seems to be working. I thought it worked the fist few days after the install but maybe Windows updated something and now it doesn't work. I went to the driver section and tried reinstalling the 7W7T4 driver package and that didn't fix anything. When I tried to follow the Dell "proper order for installing the drivers" page the drivers it says to install first aren't available for my computer. It appears that there are lots of XPS 14z and 15z users that have had issues with the eject function. Fr the time being I'm having to right click on my D: drive and click eject to get the CD/DVD's out.

I have to go into My Computer, and right click ...and then eject it that way. Anyone know of a way to get the eject buttons to work? Should be able to use one of the eject buttons.
Note: I did try the holding the power button if for 30 seconds, and then rebooted. This didn't work for me.
2. Brightness - what FN + ? key adjusts the brightness of the screen? When the AC cord is plugged in, it's bright. When I disconnect it, it dims. I'd like to adjust the brightness to where the screen is the same brightness when it's on either AC or Battery.
The left mouse button on my m1530 has taken a battering. It has gone all lop-sided, crunches every time I press it, and now doesn't work at all unless I press down on it very very hard with two fingers.
I work fast, so this is an incredibly frustrating thing to happen, as everything now takes ten times longer to do.
Yesterday while I was working on a spreadsheet, the left button of my trackpad on my Dell XPS 15z just mysteriously stopped working. I assumed that maybe my system was slowing down, as I tend to multitask and often will have a LOT going on at once. So I restarted, since it had been about a three days since my system was restarted. Anyway, it did no good. Still, the left button wasn't working.
So, I then pressed it SUPER hard and it started working. Today, I noticed that it was messing up again. However now, depressing the key good and hard doesn't seem to magically fix the situation. Moreover, it doesn't work at all now instead of intermittent workability.
There wasn't any sort of update or anything... I'm really confused. Right button has no issues, but clearly I need both. Not sure what I should do.
I am have recently bought a dell inspiron 15 7000 series laptop. Its only been a month that I have been using it. Everything was fine but my airplane mode button (the button beside F12 and PrtScr which are working fine) stopped working. Every other buttons on the button row is fully functional so I fear its not a keyboard matrix problem?

First one is working fine but the remaining two are not functioning. when I press them, button is glowing in white for a couple of seconds and nothing happening.
I generally use my lappy to listen to music and while it plays, I used to put the monitor off to save power. But suddenly it stopped working. Is this a hardware problem or something else? I tried restoring the power options but didn't solve the issue.
And my laptop is taking so much (around 15 minutes) for re-booting. Of course I have installed many programs. I make sure to remove all the un-necessary start up programs. I have a 8 GB RAM. But when compared to other laptops, it is taking really huge time to start!
I've had my Studio 1555 for awhile now, and all is has been pretty fine. However, I just noticed that my eject button for the disc drive has stopped working. I rarely use it, but I have used it before.
I upgraded my bios today from A06 to A08 and went to install my new bluetooth mouse, and the eject button just does not respond at all. I can eject the disc from my computer > right clicking the drive and selecting "eject" so it's definitely the button.
I'm not sure if this is related to the bios upgrade or something else.. Computer spec's are in my signature and I'm running Windows 7 Professional, clean install.
I bought a Dell inspiron 1545 just about an year ago.It was working smoothly till now.A few days back I installed windows 7 and the eject button on the keyboard started having problems.At times it wont work , a reboot might solve it , but the problem keeps on show up again..The eject button on the tray is working perfectly !

It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown. Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. I cleaned it up. This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
