Feb 20, 2010I have failed to reflash my bios. Now only way to reflash by external programmer. send my hp 6715b file bin. I can not reflash with hp rompaq file.

Acer :: Bios Dump File
Jan 17, 2009I have an acer aspire 5630 laptop wich have been wrongly flashed. I'm trying now to replace the bios chip (29lv008) with a new one wich i have to program on an external programmer. My problem is that the only falsh file available at acer site is an executable one (flash 32.exe). Is there a way to extract the flash file to be programmed from this .exe. Or have someone the dump file of such a laptop.

Jan 2, 2009I have my Compaq 6715b for already a year and a few months more. These few months have made been a nightmare with the dying chargers and extreme heating it produces.
I have started using Linux on it and after a successful installation the first original charger died. Some time ago already it started overheating and since the output of the cooler is less than a centimeter away from the power input (great architecture!) I suspect this heat has something to do with the instability of the power supply.
Later on I have tried 3 different universal chargers which all could not properly feed it with energy and in the end I had them replaced with a new original part. Since then I have been working without the battery because it became very unreliable and short-living.
My main concern now is that this new charger is also going to die off because of the heat it is now constantly exposed to. I have tried to take the cooler out, inspired by a friend who has a very similar but newer model of compaq and it turned out impossible to take out the last screw holding the cooler because it is hidden deep under the plastic.
something about the heating problem of the 6715b or even better - how to get the cooler out?
Apple :: An Avid Linux User/programmer Considering A MacBook
May 1, 2009I've always said MacBook's would be my next notebook because frankly I don't care at all for Windows. But now that it's time for me to upgrade, I'm more cautious to make the jump because I'm still a poor college student. The higher price is obviously a drawback, but I'm always curious how about software (being a programmer and all).
Since Mac's are Unix-based, I know my most used programs will run just as easily as my Linux distro (VIM, LaTeX, gcc/python/etc.) Other than having more open-source packages and an open-source kernel, I can't think of any software-related differences to OSX. Mac's of course have better proprietary (Apple, Adobe) and driver support. Leopard is one sexy and reliable operating system, and getting the iPhone SDK is a plus as well since I just upgraded to the iPhone (and love it btw).
Anyway, I know most of the advantages of getting a Mac over a PC. But not as much about getting a Mac over a PC that dual boots Linux. (BTW, I know OSX and Linux can be dual booted or Virtual Machine'd, but I prefer to just have one primary OS for work/school/fun). I'd get the $1300 13.3" MB if I got a Mac and a 3rd party memory upgrade. A similar spec'd Core 2 Duo PC runs at about half that or a little more. So it's either shell out the money for a Mac or get a PC and install Linux alongside Windows as my primary OS.
HP/Compaq :: Hp Dv6000 And Corrupt Hal.dll File
Apr 1, 2009I am having a few problems here with a dv6000. Firstly I need to point out that the power button on the machine is broken so the only way to start it is by using the quick launch keys and booting into Windows that way.
Ok, so I have been doing some routine work on my brothers machine, however, It was getting quite low on disk space on the C partition. When I originally set up his machine I created a C: and D: partition for his documents.
No problem, I thought and went into Partition Magic with the intention of removing a gig or two from D and relocating to the C partition. Of course though ,it failed and now I have about 2 gig of unpartition space.
Windows now tells me the Hal.dill is missing or corrupt. The funny thing though is that it still boots, it hangs for a few minutes on the error the restarts and boots fine and it only displays the message on a fresh boot, not on a restart.
I ran a chkdsk /p last night, but stupidly didn't run a chkdsk /r so that will be my first task tonight.
From what I have read its quite simple to re copy the hal.dill file but I am worried this may affect using Quick Launch the boot the machine.
HP/Compaq :: HP & 1080P MKV File Playback
Mar 2, 2009I have an HP HDX 16T with a P8400 at 2.26GHz and 4GB ram.
The video is nVidia 9600M GT driver 7.15.11.7622 with 512 dedicated memory. The TV is a Sony 46" Bravia KDL46V2500 1080P LCD connected via HDMI.
I have an MKV file that is 1080P & 8.4GB in size that will not play correctly.
The video is choppy and the audio out of sync.
I downloaded the latest versions of the following players/codecs.
KM Player
BS Player
VLC Player
CoreAVC
SM Player
All of these exhibit the behavior, some not as bad but all have an issue playing the files. In fact it seems to be any 1080P file that gives me issues.
All of my 720P play fine with any of the players listed above.
Is my hardware not up to the task? I know HP offered a blueray drive as an option so surely this computer should be able to play 1080P....

Then I did 'system restore', it didn't work.
I tried 'chkdsk' it didn't work
I tried 'System Repair', it didn't work either
I took out the RAMs and re-seated them, it didn't work,
Now its even worse, the PC won't even come on at all.

Mar 31, 2010I have a DV6-2170us. I would like to know the easiest/cheapest way to maximize my file transfers over my home network. The house is wired with a gigabit ethernet infrastructure, but the HP only has 100Mbs controller. I would like to get best speed possible for large media file transfers/backups.
My questions are:Can I add gigabit ethernet to the laptop somehow?Would it be easier to just add an eSATA card to my media server desktop PC?Should I just replace my 802.11g with a 802.11n router?
Acer :: ASpire 8930 - Loading The Dump Information Then Going To A Black Screen
Oct 23, 2008I just recieved my Aspire 8930. But Im having a problem.
While filling out the information for my operating system, it randomly decided to BSOD on me, loading the dump information then going to a black screen. Now when I turn it off and try to turn it on, the hard drive doesnt click on or even blink the little display, neither does the screen flicker on.

Jan 28, 2009i recently installed vista service pack 1 on my system which is a 64 bit OS! a couple minutes after installing and installed all necessary drivers, i then tried to install the PC game by the name of grid, half way into installation, my laptop shutdown giving me the blue screen that say hardware error and dumping memory.... i tried rebooting a couple time but same blue screen results, so i opened my system and then boot again, i then noticed my fan wasnt running continuously, it runs for a couple seconds then stops and then runagain for another couple seconds and stop, it continuously repeats that step, so i then removed the fan and cleaned out the sponge thick dirt i saw in it, blow out the dust from vents and from heat sink, then i tries booting up again and the fan behaves the same god darn way..... how can i solve this problem do you think weather or not my system is 32 bit or 64 bit, wud it affect the operation of my fan?

For the past 6-8 months it has been unable to perform Windows Update citing that the most likely reason was a virus. I have tried numerous trouble shooting options when it was recommended that I perform a chkdsk. After initiating a chkdsk in Command Prompt, my computer restarted and had a black screen with no cursor. After watching this for 2 hours and realizing that none of the usual chkdsk progress or text was coming up I made the decision to force shut down.
When I rebooted, I was told to enter system recovery which I did and completed a system recovery from the hard drive. After the system recovery finished and the laptop restarted, I experience a Blue Screen of Death due to a physical memory dump. The error codes are STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8006671040, 0xFFFFFA8006671278, 0xFFFFF80001D01DA0).
I am not able to boot in safe mode. In the start up repair, I am able to enter command prompt from which I started chkdsk again. Both chkdsk f/ and chkdsk r/ passed with no errors. Additionally, the computer passed both UEFI Hard Drive and Memory tests. I have system recovery CDs for the computer but they fail at 78% completion.

I had formatted the whole hdd while installing..
apart from the factory image file (*.wim) (5gb+ file) i had not backed up anything else from the recovery partition..
Can i use that Windows Imaging Format (WIM) file to restore back my laptop to factory settings ?
EDIT : I currently dont have my "Windows Vista OEM Disc" with me right now

Mar 4, 2010I have an e4300 with 4 gigs of ram and Win7. I recently downloaded the latest Windows Update as prompted by the OS, and now I'm having an issue where everytime I start the computer it asks me to set the page file size. It's always listed as 0 megs.
So, I got to reset it using the box marked managed by the system, and when I restart the same thing happens.
So instead I chose a custom size 1.5xRam for lower limit, 3x ram for higher limit, and still eveytime I restart it gives me an automatic pop-up telling me my page file is set to zero.
Acer :: File Transfer Via USB On Vista
Mar 27, 2009I've got a 320gb Seagate Freeagent Go external hard drive which I need to transfer data from onto my Acer 6920.
All starts well with transfer speeds of around 30mb/s, the speeds then drop to around 10mb/s and more often than not the whole transfer freezes and just hangs no matter what size file I'm transfering. I've got over 200gb I need transfered but it just won't do it, even in small chunks of data.
Am going to try it on XP in work but could it be a Vista problem and would updating my Intel Matrix Storage driver help?

Oct 2, 2009I some how managed to completely screwup the file permissions ownership on my macbook (10.6). This seems to have also mirrored itself to my timemachine. So I did a clean instal of SL, and then manually moved my files from TM back across, but unfortunatley the permission for all said files are wrong.
So I went as set using cmd+I the permission to myself as owner, as checked to apply to enclosed items, thinkin that would do the trick.
Unfortunately while it did fix a few files, the majority still remain stuck with the "_unknown" as the owner, which is preventing me from opening and using pretty much everything on my mac.
Does anyone know a way to force write the owner permissions to me for ALL files in my home directory?
I have tried the repair permissions in disk utility several times, it does nothing

Apr 16, 2009i have found file transfer rate is noticeably low in my XPS M1530 machine. i was transferring 1.7gb file from I partition to G partition. it started sending 22mb/sec.
then there after i found it to b reduced to 10/12 mb/sec sometimes extremely low like 3 or 4mb/sec. why is that? how can i keep it constant at 22 or 20 mb/sec transferring rate.

Aug 31, 2009I have an Acer 8930 with the Intel WiFi Link 5100. I updated the driver to version 12.4.3.9. When I transfer a file to my moviebox (connected to a Netgear Rangemax Router via cable) I only get up to 1.2 MB/s as speed. When I transfer via my IMac I can get up to 4.5MB/s.
Looking into the advanced properties settings of the Intel WiFi Link I noticed under Wireless mode the following options:
1. 802.11a
2. 802.11b
3. 802.11g
4. 802.11b/g
5. 802.11a/g
6. 802.11a/b/g
Option 6 is selected, but should there not be an N option?

Apr 22, 2009I found something once on one of my recovery CD'S. It is an ISO file called STCDBOOT. I burned the ISO image and it made some wierd boot disk. Has anone else tried this? I was wondering if this could rebuild the PQSERVICE? This ISO is on the first disk called System.

Apr 23, 2010my 4810tz keeps freezing, i've tried all the fixes on this forum, apart from re-installing windows 7 (I cant see how this can help).
what I need to know is how I can get the minidump file when my laptop locks up?
i've looked at the event log and all it says is event 41 kernal power, i need to find out what application/driver is causing the crashes!
I can't believe this can't be fixed, this is really bad on acers part.
a note to make though, this freezing happened on my gf's laptop, and she was running a core duo, so maybe its the proccessor?
