I am trying to install access connections on my x60 but after the I reboot to complete installation I get an error message that msvcp71.dll can't be located.
View 3 RepliesFor some time now I have had the problem that the Access Connections configuration window doesn't open. The icon in the taskbar does work as expected, it shows the configured profiles and I can switch between them. But I cannot edit them or create new ones, because the configuration window doesn't start. The access connections task is running in the background, but there is no visible window.
I'm using version 6.10 under Windows 7, and the problem exists on several different ThinkPad models (R500, R61). Reinstalling didn't work.
In two cases I know that Windows 7 has been updated from Vista, I'm not sure whether this is the case for all of the affected machines.
Wireless on my thinkpad x60s has switched off. I have turned off the windows turning off mode. I have deleted driver and updated driver.
My FN andF5 keys wont switch it on. The system says its working ok but needs switching on. When I try to connect on wireless connection it says " no connections are available".
How does one reach the bios on a 2014 X1 Carbon? I've tried pressing F1 on the adaptive keyboard strip during boot, to no avail. Before the logo, during the logo, etc.

I've use X220 and X230's before and they have a button to access boot options.
Tried F12 and Fn +F12,but it just boots into Win 8.
I have an HP Pavilion 17 e049wm Notebook PC, model: E0J75UA.Long story short my laptop no longer gives me an option to connect to the internet through my wireless router. It only gives me the option to connect through an Ethernet cable. If I click on the networks icon it says No connections are available. If I go to the network and sharing center and try to set up a network, it will never detect my router. The wifi icon reminds orange, despite airplane mode being off. If I type wireless in the search bar in the start menu, one option is to change wifi settings. From there it only gives me the option to add VPN connection.(?)Another option is to change wireless device settings yet it doesn't detect any. I tried doing a system restore to a save point where the internet was working,'didn't work. I know it's not my router as all other devices, phones, tablets,ps3 and other computers are working just fine. I did try though resting the router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install windows 8 from the 3 disks that came with the X1 Carbon. There is no DVD drive and we have no external disk drive, so I need to create a bootable USB for this. The laptop came with windows 7 on it.
It is easy to use DISKPART to ready the USB as a bootable device, but how to I take the data from the 3 DVDs and put it onto the USB so that it works? The first one only has drivers but the OS install is split onto two disks. I referred to a KB article but it was talking about autorun files that are not present on these DVDs.
The DVDs I have are labeled as
(1) Applications and Drivers Recovery Disk,
(2) OS Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro [Disk 1 of 2], and (2) OS Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro [Disk 2 of 2].
I have a thinkpad W500 and I'm reinstalling Windows 7 after years of running linux (I got tired of my video drivers being unsupported due to the age of the card). However, when I attempt to install system update, I get the message "an error occured while gathering user information" and I cannot continue. How can I get the switchable graphics, power, and keyboard drivers properly installed? I don't really care about the rest of the software, it just that system update is the only way I know of to get it.

I've downloaded Windows 7 ISO from [URL] ....
Then I have loaded it into Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool
Prepared with that app bootable DVD and flash
First I tryied to install Windows from usb, installer runs and asked me for CDDVD drivers. I sat up USB3.0 to disabled, then in browser window I can see my flash, but the message about drivers remains..
Also I copyed USB3 driver from [URL] ... to another flash and tryed to give them instead of CD-DVD drivers, but they are shown as "not compatible"
Next i tryied with DVD, but I can't even load installer - DVD begin to roll, but then shows me "choose boot device" dialog. Secure boot is OFF, UEFI tryied both Legacy Only and UEFI only....
I have recenty bought a X1 Carbon and it is missing Dragon Assistant. How can i get this installed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just did a system restore of windows 8 (clean wipe) and went through the process of reinstalling all the drivers. I installed the latest version SmartAudio (8.32.43.0). In Google hang out it said the microphone wasn't working, then I clicked on the settings and made the internal mic the default, I got good mic for 1 second. Did it again and the same thing. But this is only for a single second. In skype I tried the same thing and it is just super quite, it doesn't register on the scale unless I blow directly into the mic (so I know it's picking something up). Last week I had my upgraded from win 7 Windows 8 install working just fine with the microphone (zero problems ever before with this thing). I checked in mic properties and DB and volume are set to max. So what is it about the fresh install that is making the mic all cracked out? (I checked the SmartAudio settings too) I'm having issues with my Bluetooth mouse too(disconnects at restart and have to reinstall) and Power Manager (it doesn't show up as a toolbar anymore). P.S.. I've gone to the X220 site and downloaded the latest drivers and installed system update.

SATA Controller Mode Option is set to "AHCI". I boot from an external DVD drive. Windows Setup loads. Select "Install Now". Pick "Custom". Select "Drive Options". Delete existing drives. Select "Load Driver" and browse CD where I downloaded and unpacked the AMD AHCI W764A driver.After driver is installed, go back to Win 7 Pro DVD, click "Refresh" and "Next". Windows Copies Files and goes to "Expanding WIndows Files". and at 4% freezes. Mouse does not move and system is locked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm struggling to get the touchpad on my x220 to work. The UltraNav driver for it won't install, complaining that the "Synaptics device not found!"
I know the touchpad is there, because i can see it. I have done all the obvious things like updates, bios settings etc.
when I try to install the Windows 8 copy I got with my Lenovo S440 in a virtual box environment
the installation procedure hangs on the windows splash screen. I never saw a Windows 8 installation
procedure before, so I booted my laptop from the installation media to check if it is corrupted.
This works fine. A loading dot circle is displayed under the logo after a few seconds and than after quiet
a while the lenovo wizard is shown... so it has to be an issue with the virtual box.
I attached a screenshot to show you where it hangs.
My R400 laptop (7447-W14) suddenly freezes on boot: it displays the early logo ("thinkpad, to interrupt normal startup, press the blue Thinkvantage button"), and waits forever, neither the bios menu nor the operating system (windows and ubuntu in dual boot) appears.
I can shutdown by holding the power button more than 5s, but on reboot, the same freeze come back, whatever I do:
- holding the F1 key before and after powering on
- holding the "ThinkVantage" button
- doing this on battery, or with power supply (with or without battery)
- trying to boot on an external USB HD drive
It does not seem to be a CPU problem (nothing would be displayed), nor RAM or harddisk one (it is cheked later, at BIOS time).
In fact, I was wondering wether removing and putting back the small battery of the mainboard would solve this problem ... but this battery seems not to be eaysyly found. At least, it is not under the keyboard, where the RAM is.
of course, warranty has ended ... any way, before I throw this laptop to trash ?
So she downloaded a recent WinXP update and when it restarted, she got the BSOD with this description only: 0x0000007e (0xc000001d, 0x80537008, 0xbaccf3b8, 0xbaccf0b4). Attempts to reboot just let directly to the BSOD. I couldn't even safeboot... it would just freeze up on me before it even got to the WinXp logo.
I did a several google searches for the error and tried a number of different things to no avail. I decided to just do a clean install of WinXP. The format/install went fine. BUT... the internet connections are missing. I installed all the drivers in the proper order. When I go to Control Panel>Network Connections there's nothing there. No icons or anything. PLUS none of the USB ports work .....
I have searched the issue and all I can see is I have to flash the bios. I am not comfortable doing that because I have done this before on my Alienware and it took me three days to restart the computer. Everything was messed up.
All I want to be able to do is charge USB devices when the computer is in sleep mode. I have set Windows 8 power mode up, but it appears the BIOS is still preventing this from happening. So I need to access the BIOS.When the computer restarts no message appears to say *'hit F2 to enter BIOS'.So I have tried, Fn + F2, Fn + F1, F1, F2 and none enter the bios on start up. How do I enter bios on this Z50?
I run in some problem with Bios. Few days ago I have changed some settings in Bios and now I can't access it. There is no press enter to interupt booting, F1 or others buttons don't call Bios on boot. What I can do to enter Bios settings again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to access my BIOS recently, but whenever I attempt to do so, all I get is a constant beep sound. I used to be able to access the BIOS just fine, but now I can't. The computer itself still boots fine, though I also can't select any boot options either.
I thought I could fix this by resetting the BIOS, but there doesn't appear to be any way of doing that. The CMOS battery is nowhere to be found, and there is no BIOS update for the Y510p that I can apply.
I can get back into the BIOS?
I bought a u310 slightly used but had a failing HDD. The person who was using it installed an operating system on the SSD and now I can't seem to access the bios at all. I had read that this may happen if Rapid Start is not disabled before formatting the SSD.
What do I need to do to be able to access the bios again? There is no bios files listed as a download for this computer so I can't even seem to be able to flash the bios.
I already sent it to lenovo to replace the HDD and instead they tried to charge me $167 to image the machine, which I said no to and they sent the computer back without fixing it.
I have a problem with my Lenovo G500s 1.1 years (1 year & 1 month). It worked perfectly until last month. It started to freeze. I restarted the computer (btw I was using licenced win8 back then) and then the lenovo logo showed up and it stuck there. I was waiting for about 10 minutes, but nothing happened. I turned it off manually, and then turned it on,it was still frozen. after some trial of startup, it worked normally. After 2 days it happened again. I thought it was the system, so I deleted the windows8 and installed windows8.1 licensed, it worked for a month and then again (last night) it just freezes at startup (lenovo logo shows up). Till now its frozen. I restarted it several times, it didnt work. I also pulled out battery & started on AC power which didnt work too. Obviously, i dont have warranty.

Is there any way to bypass it because I just transfered my files back and I don't want to reset everything again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTill now, my G510 with Win7 64 bit worked perfectly but after going into flight mode and coming back, it no longer recognizes any internet sources, wired or wireless.
Windows troubleshooter says I need to 'turn on wireless capability'. I don't see a wireless hardware switch anywhere on the laptop, fn+f5 does nothing and in the panel for the flightmode, only bluetooth appears (which I can also activate). The device manger says all of the network devices are working normally. I tried reinstalling the latest drivers from Lenovo, but that didn't do anything either. The Windows Mobility Center says that the wireless is turned off, but the 'turn wireless on' button is greyed out and is not able to be clicked.
In an earlier post, it was suggested to check if in "services.msc" the "WLAN AutoConfig" function is activated which is in my case true. WIFI is also activated in the BIOS.
Last thing I tried, was to bring with windows recovery the system back into a state where everything worked fine but also that did not work.

My network card is on the fritz, to put it simply. I randomly lose internet access, and my network connection is listed as "Limited Access". Sometimes turning off the adapter and turning it back on solves the problem, but sometimes I need to do a full reboot. My system is the only one affected, so I know its not the router. I have already viewed the similar threads and tried the methods advised with no success.
So far I have:
-Updated my drivers
-Disabled Broadcom Bluetooth service at startup
-Disabled Hybrid Sleep
-Told Windows not to shut the network card off.
I did a System Refresh last week and that's when the problem started.
I have a user with a 68855TU. Using Windows 7 64 bit.
When running dual screens and connecting to the Terminal server with Dual screen, dragging the mouse cursor to the top of the laptop screen the image on both screens will move a couple of inches.
Solutions tried so far:
-Tried lowering resolution of the screens on the client side. Issue still happened.
-Checked the driver driver. Going through Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings, under one of the tabs there was a check box for "auto scroll function". Tried with and without this checkmark with no change. Left it off, the way I found it.
-In the RDP software, checked the "Use all my monitors for the remote session" (It was off, but all screens seemed to be getting used). Scrolling still happened. Turned this off. Only only monitor got the connection, and no scrolling.
-Also tried changing the display config down a step in the RDP connection. Given the laptop screen size and no scrolling happened with that setup.
-Tried using only laptop screen. No Scrolling.
-Tried using only the external screen. No scrolling.
-Used the Lenovo software to check for driver updates. None found.
-Downloaded the latest driver from Lenovo. Driver from April this year. Updated the computer. Reboot. Scrolling still happens.
-Tried to install the latest Intel drivers for the video chipset. Get the message that it has not yet been approved for use by manufacturer.
I bought a Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN Pci-express card because my laptop didn't had a WIFI card.
Now i would like to connect the cable but I'm not exactly sure of the connection.
I read the instruction on the Lenovo site, which indicated to connect grey cable to MAIN or TR1, black cable to AUX or TR2 and white cable to R0.
But on the Intel card, it is only indicated 1, 2 or 3. I look on Intel site but didn't find the exact information.
I fresh installed Windows 7 and installed all the drivers from Lenovo's website. Still I cannot adjust the brightness. It stays on MAX and drains the battery in 1h30min. All other F hotkeys work but not F7 & F8 for brightness control. Is this a BIOS/Drivers issue?

New just turned on a few hours ago. Brightness control was working before fresh install. Did fresh install to get rid of bloatware.
I was having issues with the Intel HD4000 drivers (right-click issue and VGA out not working properly). I tried to install the latest drivers downloaded from Lenovo's site - two attempts unsuccessfully. It would seem to be installing, but ended up taking quite a while to finally timeout in error. Just stated and error occurred and it could not install.
So, I decided to uninstall the drivers in the Windows 7 device manager. This left me with Standard VGA drivers under displays. Tried to install the Lenovo drivers again - no dice. It seems to attempt to for a while, then would just time out and stated there was an error (same as before).
So, I'm stuck at the Standard VGA drivers and seemingly no good way to get the proper drivers re-installed. I've even gone through the Lenovo System Update software and tried there - did not work and timed out there as well.
I know a system restore would remedy it, but I've got business software and things I'd have to reinstall and would prefer not to if I did not have to.
Seems I should be able to install some kind of drivers here, but no dice.
