Scrolling on a media heavy page (like NYT.com) causes stutters with FF3.5RC2 so I gave Safari a try. Fast? Yes. No scrolling problems and loads faster. However I get beachballed randomly. Was just browsing Headfi.org and it died twice and have to force quit.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI installed iStat, Chrome and Safari and I noticed that Safari usually uses less cpu usage than Chrome but I can't tell for sure. When I (used to) use Chrome for pc, I never rememebered cpu usage to go as high as it did with my mbp; but the cpu in my pc was an AMD dual core @ 3.6 ghz so it's kind of hard to compare.
This kind of leads me to believe that Safari may be better for os x than Chrome but I don't know; is it?
i deleted the app and now using safari4beta and firefox instead, didn't bothered with installing it again before i know what is wrong and how to fix it, i've checked with the system monitor and safari3 was program responsible.

Problems with Safari. This just started a few weeks ago. I keep having compatibility issues with my Hotmail and Safari 3.2.1 (the 4.0 is worse), I can't even open my hotmail messages 4.0. At first I thought it was MSN, so I contacted them. I'm pretty sure it's a browser issue.
It keeps inserting random question mark symbols throughout my outgoing Hotmail messages.
I've tried resetting Safari, deleting cookies... blah blah blah.... done all the updates.
It's annoying. I like Safari, and want to continue using it. I have Firefox and it works fine. Could my computer have a virus?
I have Camino too, but it won't let me put anything in the "subject line" when composing a new hotmail message. Very annoying.
safari does not let me logon to "t-mobile" for my account but it lets me logon to AT&T, bank of america, NYCB,TD banking, and all other sites "WHY" does anyone else have this problem with T-mobile site ?

Though, as soon as I could I changed the address bar so that it used the original blue progress indicator instead of the stupid spinner. That was a mistake, IMO, getting rid of the blue progress indicator. Thankfully you can edit the preferences file to get it back.

I've been having major problems browsing the internet lately. Safari won't stay open for more than 2 minutes without crashing and Firefox will half the time not format web pages correctly. For example, as I'm typing this in FF right now, in my tool bar up above this text box I have the boxes with bold, italics and underline options showing, but I can't select them. Even worse, the rest of where boxes should be just have text, for example it says Align Left, Align Center and Align Right instead of having selectable boxes. What is up with my browsers?

What is going on here and would Chrome resolve these issues? Yes I know I could try out Chrome for myself but I alone am not a good enough sample size for the question I'm asking.
At any rate, why does Firefox handle flash much better than Safari on OS X?

View 7 Replies View RelatedDownloaded Safari 4b and installed it on a Windows machine ( running Win 2008 Server), everything is running fine except the downloaded files are no where to be found anywhere!
I specifically told Safari to save them on the desktop but they don't appear at all, nil result comes up while searching for them.
Is there any way that when i click clear downloads in the safari downloads window that the actual downloads will be deleted to. Like in firefox if you remove the downloads from the dl window it will remove the actual dl from wherever your default dl folder is.

Lately it's been randomly going into sleep mode and waking up just as randomly as if nothing happened. Someone told me its a RAM issue, but i'm sure it cant be that since that will usually shut the mac down instead of putting it on standby.
I keep my computer plugged in when I'm at home, but my power cord keeps "shutting itself off" and stops charging. So sometimes I check my battery power and there's like 24% left. My battery seems to be holding a charge for now, but my power cord seems to randomly fail. Never in my life have I ever heard of power cords failing-I'm sure it happens but this is ridiculous.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently noted that, sometimes (randomly and rarely for the time being), the pointer of my bluetooth MM (Mighty Mouse) moves farther than what I was expecting it to move. This happened probably in concomitance with the opening of some application (Iphoto once). In other words, it appeared to me that the pointer accelerated more than what I demanded it to move with the displacement of the mouse. It was not really a uncontrolled jump (as it sometimes happens with optical mice) but like a transitory but self-contained loss of pointer control.
I believe that a similar event occurred also once with the trackpad pointer when I went to the bottom of the screen to make dock appear in concomitance with a skype call launch....the pointer seemed to move fast to the right although I am quite sure it was not my finger to command this motion on the pad.
I have tried (with respect to MM) to delete and recreate the bluetooth .plist but it did not prevent from having this occurrence (note also that the batteries are OK).
I have read in some other forum, here in this site, that this might be due to OSX pointer acceleration (not perfect) management.
I am a Macbook owner for about a year now and since I've had it I've had problems with the Login Keychain. When using Safari it asks for me to use the login keychain every few pages. This confuses me as I never set it up in the first place. Also it asks for me to use the login keychain everytime I launch Skype which is a pain in the . The only cause of this I can think of is that my IT department at college thought it would be clever to set up a login keychain before they handed my Macbook over to me and not tell me the password. I've tried my main password to log into my Macbook and its keeps saying the password is invalid. not a massive problem but still would like to get to the bottom of it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy XPS 14z isn't even one year old and it feels like 3 years old because of this problem. It is always just randomly shutting down. No warning, nothing, it just cuts off. The screen goes black and when I turn it back on, its like I did a "force shut down" so I always have to select "start windows normally". I actually started keeping a list of all the times it has shut down because it happens so often. I just like pick it up, or slightly shift the computer and bam the screen goes black. Also sometimes the laptop will shut down and wont even turn back on until I plug in the power cord! I am tired of the laptop shutting down in the middle of something important!

So I've had my laptop for roughly around 9 months and I have started having trouble with it about 2 months after I got it. Although it may not be entirely the laptops fault as I think the person who sold it to me just wanted a quick sale because it does the bare minimum of what I expect it to do.
But lately to my great annoyance the audio has stopped working...for everything. Nothing I've tried has worked and every so often it will at random the sound will be back on again. It's done this on occassion about 5 months after I bought it and I didn't think anything of it but now it's happening everday and is driving me nuts!
I've tried uninstalling the sound and restarting but that doesn't do anything double and triple checked that nothing is on mute, I've used VLC, youtube and Windows Media Player to test it out and still nothing. In the control panel it says the sound is working but it's not. I've also tried putting in headphones and there isn't any sound from the headphones either.
i have a dell inspiron b130 and every once in a while the thing just shuts off lke the bat has been takin out, no shutdown process or nothin. i know the battery is shot, i was just wondering if its the cord or the ac jack on the computer itself? i can mess with the cord by the computer and i can get it to work. but also the cord has been chewed on near in the middle between the ac plug and the power brick....

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been having this issue for about a week or so. I thought perhaps it was because I updated the ATI driver, but I did a rollback and the issue still persists.
I have checked my battery settings and nothing stands out. I don't have my laptop set to go to sleep under any circumstances other then closing the lid, but during operation it will just go to sleep.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. When it goes to sleep, sometimes the power button is unresponsive in waking the computer back up. It will take quite a while before I am able to do anything to get the computer back up and running.
