Dell :: CPU Usage Jumping Soo High During Scrolling...

View 3 RepliesFor some reason my CPU usage starts jumping up to around 80% whilst scrolling on wepages, pdfs, etc.
View 3 RepliesI know I have already asked this question, but I'm really concerned. I have a xps 16, and after it wakes up CPU stays above 80% for the entire time.
I just talked to a dell techie and they said it might be caused by a virus. What do you think? It's brand new and I have McAfee on all the time. (I ran fn+power on diagnose, everything's fine)
Last week I bought a 22" LG W2261V external monitor for my dell m1330 with Nvidia 8400GS.
After about 10-20 minutes of viewing a HD movie my CPU usage burst to 95-100 % and won't go down unless I unplug the external monitor. I checked this with another external monitor and the result is the same.
BTW of course I view HD movies all the time before I bought this external monitor without any problem.
I tried with vista 32-bit and windows 7 64-bit but no good.
i play facebook flash games like restaurant city, pet society..etc in battery mode, cpu usage will be around 70% and the games very lag, this problem occurs in both balanced & power saving battery mode ...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio fw 490 CTo for a week and it's running window vista home premium 64x everything doing fine until i got freeze when playing game. I open taskbar manager and saw my physical memory is at 90% ......
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my acer aspire 5101AWLMI for almost two years, and it's always worked fine, at times it was a bit slow, so I upgraded the given ram (1gb) to 4gb (the accepted maximum). However, recently A new problem has developed.
Sometimes when I run a program (it can be anything from a full-screen high-spec video game to a tiny browser-based flash video) My computer becomes really slow, until I minimise it. I checked on task manager, and my CPU usage jumps up to 100% when the program or applictaion is open, and falls back to around the usual when I minimise it.
It's not a virus, there are no extra processes running, just the process that /are/ currently running (espescially the one that slows everything down) take up way more of the cpu uses than normal. My processor is an AMD Turion 64 Mobile technology MK-36 (2.0 ghz, 512 kb L2 cache).
When is boot up my Split sometimes but not always the Memory column in task manager shows 95%, and the pc runs really slowly. But i have nothing running.
The biggest use showing is Service Host: Local System.
High CPU Usage despite nothing showing on Task Manager or Process Explorer.
I was asked to have a look at a relatively new Acer Aspire 6530g laptop recently that was beginning to become almost unusably slow all of a sudden. The system (which comes with 4gb of ram) literally can no longer run a couple of simple applications at the same time. Displaying typical behaviour of high CPU usage, ie taking a long time to respond, typed sentences seeming to pause and then jump to the end, video noticably jerky accompanied by a crackling through the speakers.
The system had a fresh re-installation of Vista done, which seemed to solve the problem briefly, reappearing again after a week or so, and then upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 in an attempt to solve the problem, again the symptoms appeared to stop after the upgrade (or weren't as evident) and returned yet again after only another week or so.
First thing i did was check task manager for something slowing the system. I suspected perhaps some malware or a trojan on the system.
This is where it gets weird. Nothing. If for instance theres just 1 browser window playing a flash game, it slows to a crawl. CPU shows 75-95% usage, yet nothing is seemingly using it. To go a little deeper I installed sysinternals process explorer to see a little deeper into what might be causing it. Again, nothing. Showing overall High CPU usage, but nothing appeared to be using all of the CPU..................
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590 with windows 7 32 bit professional installed. When I switch to speed mode and hook up a monitor (24" dell LCD) via HDMI->DVI the graphics card temperature goes up to around 80-95C (measured with real temp 3.40) and the CPU temp also goes up into the 60-70s. No programs are using the CPU heavily. During this process the fans go up to max and the computer gets really loud. I have all the latest drivers installed and the latest BIOS.
I was wondering if anyone else has a problem like this? Would installing 64 bit windows 7 be better? It makes it really noisy when I hook up a monitor via HDMI. Any ideas?
Everything is perfect in stamina mode, low temps, low cpu usage.
when im unzipping files or when cpu usage is high my wireless mouse will lag really bad but the touch pad will work fine?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a HP15-r085nd (Win 8.1 with Bing), and right out of the box I experienced this problem:
Â
After waking up from sleep mode (usually after the very first time of waking up from sleep mode, but always after the second time), the process 'System interrupts' has high CPU usage, up to 45%. The laptop then responds very, very slow. Also, in Internet Explorer (but only in Internet Explorer, it seems!) keystrokes are missing out.
Â
I tried the following:
-Implemented all Windows updates, all McAfee updates and all HP Assistent updates. No result.
-Reinstalled all drivers, no result. Windows system restore: no result. Factory reset from recovery partition: no result. Then implemented all updates again: no result.
-I tried to use Microsoft Xperf to diagnose the problem: it seems to blame wdf0100.sys for the high CPU usage. (That is, if I interpreted the results in the right way.)
Â
-I then did some troubleshooting with Microsoft Support: they asked me to disable all startup items in the Task manager, and disable all non-Microsoft services in msconfig. The result was that the high cpu usage of 'System Interrupts' occured less frequently after the first time of coming out of sleep mode, but still it always occured after the second time of waking up out of sleep mode. Uninstalling McAfee seems to have the same effect, by the way.
Â
-I then did some troubleshooting with the store were I bought it. They used a driver program to install some newer versions of drivers. Also to no avail.
Â
They then gave me another laptop of the same model (r085nd). This one had exactly the same problems. So I suspect that ALL laptops of this model have the same issue!
Â
-I then did some troubleshooting with HP Support. We updated the BIOS (F.24), without result. We did some additional driver updates from the HP Website, no result. We wanted to update the Intel HD Graphics driver (sp65598), but we couldn't install it, getting an error message saying minimum system requirements weren't met.
Â
I hope HP support can come up with a solution (they wanted to look further into it). If so, I'll promise to post it here, as it probably affects other HP r085nd's as well.
I have a Y510p. After upgrading the touchpad driver ( Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for 64-bit Windows Version 17.0.10.12/11.4.26.1) and ,possibly coincidentally Windows 8.1 I noticed a process called "System" in the task manager is eating up 6 to 12 % CPU usage. Opening its file location seems to reveal that its "ntoskrnl" application.
Â
After a system factory reset and many curse words I noticed a peculiar thing. The processor shows high usage only when the mouse is being used. The more the mouse is used the higher the CPU usage (caps at about 12%). I am assuming this is a bug.Â
Â
I have removed the driver and tested this and the process no longer used the CPU by that amount. But I lose all my features. Is there any way I can resolve this issue without having to either wait for a newer version of the driver (whih may take a very long time?). Also is there any place where I can access the older variant of the driver?
I have an acer Aspire 5733Z and all of a sudden I am having an issue with the ETD Control Center (ETDCtrl.exe) using and average of 50% CPU usage. Â
Â
It's causing my laptop to lockup and go slow.
Â
This just started today and came out of nowhere, I've never had an issue before. Â
Â
Here's the list of recent changes and/or updates I've made.  But they were 3 days ago: Norton Security SuiteJava 7 update 71Acer System Information I can't seem to find anything about this.
I have a dell inspiron N5050 core i5, 8GB RAM but when I run applications like GNS3, the cpu usage runs up to 100% and freezes whereas the RAM usage is only about 2.7GB (that is, about 33%). How can I get the RAM to function optimally?
I even had to upgrade to Windows 8 thinking it would solve the problem but here I am stuck with the same problem.
Now that the new MBPs have arrived, they come with a new feature called inertial scrolling (like flick-scrolling on the iPhone).
Is this feature specifically hardware dependent or could this feature be implemented into the OS via a application like Bettertouchtools?
Are there any apps out there right now that has this feature?
I am most likely going to throw on my 64bit version I got this week, what "gotchas" have you guys run into when moving to 64 bit? Did most of your programs work ok? It looks like 64 bit drivers are available for all the hardware on my M1530 (video, audio, wifi, touchpad, fingerprint reader, etc)
I am mainly running Office 2007, firefox, Call of Duty 5, Steam (cod4), and the software for my Merc Zboard.
just wanted to learn from the experiances of all you people who have already made the switch.
did you guys notice much of a performance boost with that extra .5 gigs of RAM available to windows? I doubt I ever used the full 3.5 gigs that my 32 bit OS uses but then again I'm not sure.
I am having a problem with my 9 month old Dell XPS 1530. When I type for a while (a paragraph or so) the cursor will inadvertently “jump” from the end of the sentence where I am typing to somewhere in the middle of the paragraph. This is a real annoyance and at first I thought I might be hitting a key on the keyboard causing this. However, I gave the laptop to my father in law and had him use it for a short while. He experienced the same thing at least 6 times over the period of 10 minutes. I guess I’m going to have to call Dell,
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just received an XPS 15 this week and the touchpad is really really jumpy.I can't scroll at all without it jumping around. Also, is there a way to enable 1 finger scrolling, I don't seem to have an option to do so in the settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS 1730 and recently the CPU will jump to 100% usage while just watching dvd's and not doing anything really intensive. The laptop will become very slow, usually having to restart to resolve the problem
I've tried doing a fresh install of vista 32 ultimate with all the latest drivers installed and lastest A10 bios yet i'm still having problems. Also bios defaults have been loaded.
I've ran the dell diagnostics cd, done the full system test and many of the other tests you can do and not one has failed.
All Tempatures seems to be ok aswell.
Anyone have any similar problems or have any ideas what the problem could be?
The laptop is no longer in warranty so i can't really contact dell about this.
Have weird problem on new m1710 4gb 7950gtx on vista ultimate
Trying to edit on pinacle studio 11 becomming a nightmare! the screen is jumping all over the place everything shifiting 4 - 5cm to the left and back!

put a proper, up-to-date gaming video card in if you're going to charge $1500+ on a XPS laptop for christ sakes.....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am unable to type more than a couple of minutes without my cursor repositioning itself. The problem is inadvertent "contact" between my palm/lower thumb and the touchpad. I put contact in quotes because it's not even clear whether actual contact or mere proximity is the problem.
Brief background: I worked with Dell service and we agreed that the problem is an overly sensitive trackpad. We tried changing the TrackPad settings to no avail. They authorized a replacement trackpad which was installed by a service tech (along with a new mother board after he accidentally killed the computer while replacing the trackpad).
Result: Still no improvement.
FYI: My Touchpad settings are Touch Sensitivity 6/8; Tap to Click: On/Medium Speed; TouchCheck: Enabled/Minumum. Scroll: enabled
As you can from the above, I use the TrackPad for all my control (including selection). I have tried the most obvious solution -- turning up the TouchCheck -- and find that it renders the tap to select function useless. At this setting, it often takes 2-3 clicks to make a selection which is obviously unacceptable.
I have a dell inspiron N7110 laptop with windows 7 and my cursor keeps jumping back while I am typing. I have unchecked the enhance pointer precision box.Â
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio 1558 cursor is either jumping erratically or freezing. I have had the laptop for a few years but this problem only started a couple of weeks ago and has been getting worse.
When it freezes, I need to re-start the computer.
The jumping happens not just when I am typing, but even when using the touch pad. Â It will move up and down and often close windows or click links.
I have checked and I have the most up to date device drivers. Â I have also changed the sensitivity settings but to no avail.
My Inspiron 1440 laptop running on Windows 7; I have always had the problem with the cursor jumping all over the place and sometimes it just deleted the whole of document by itself. So frustrated to use. I just found that it's a known problem as it happens to many of the other models. What does Dell Support have to say about this? It takes me forever to type this message as it keeps jumping around wherever the mouse pointer is.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMouse is jumping all over the screen - I believe because it is easy to accidentally brush the touchpad while typing.
The Control Panel - Mouse on this Latitude no longer has an option to independently enable/disable the touchpad and the pointing stick - but surely there is a way to do this on this e4300.
Am running XP - 32bit.
I teach online and my new Dell laptop Inspiron 15 3520 is useless. I cannot use it in online chat with students because now the cursor is moving to other lines of text and inserting my typing. I uninstalled the touchpad driver as that seems to be something recommended here. I tried to reinstall from the Dell website and it failed. So now I not only have an awful computer but a useless one. I'm regretting the Dell decision after just a week.

To find out that's the windows 8 's problem or the touchpad's problem we bought a microsoft wireless mouse and it worked without any problem...Â
