My 1555 was bought back in August last year with Vista pre-installed and free Windows 7 upgrade. Everything went really well with the upgrade except now the Vista sticker is now starting to bugging me.
Can somebody describe to be what the new Windows 7 laptop sticker looks like? (Or even better if you could post a photo?) There are some available for sale on ebay quite cheaply but I'm not sure if they're genuine?
The hard drive on my Aspire 5745 was replaced (same size 640 GB) when I install Windows, it hangs on the Windows logo as its swirling and about to start. I have checked in the BIOS to disable UEFI boot but unable to see this option.

Symptoms: Unable to load windows 8, unable to load windows repair, Unable to load windows 8 installer DVD, unable to boot into Linux, Unable to load Linux live CDs or USB sticks, unable to even use an MSdos boot USB.
Problem just appeared one day, one month out of my 1 year warranty so I began troubleshooting myself. After replacing the SSD, Motherboard, and unplugging every single cable, even disassembling the display and disconnecting the Windows button, Webcam, and touchscreen cables. Still I Could not get any OS to boot. On a whim I powered on the laptop them promptly disconnected the daughter board and sure enough my OS booted right away. Upon further inspection I learned that the Auto-rotate or rotate lock button had become stuck/damaged due to a fall or hard bump. I ripped off the button and ordered a new daughter board online and all is well now.
I have an Acer Aspire 5710Z which originally had Vista but I had it reformatted to XP.
We've been using it for a little less than a year without much problems until about a couple of months ago when it started to freeze at random times at the windows logo (the one with the blue thing scrolling below). So we had to turn it off then on again and then choose the option to start on safe mode, which worked.
So I've tried lots of things to find out the source of the problem. Apparently, it's not a virus. We've tried to disable all the stuff at the startup but it didn't help. I've been looking around forums and stuff but none has given an answer to my problem.
So I brought it to these tech guys from school, who thought that the problem might be with the drivers. One of the guys saw that there were two intel graphics cards (Intel 945 GM driver) showing up in the device manager, like it was installed twice or something. He thought that might be the problem so he uninstalled the driver and the freezing stopped. I tried downloading newer drivers (actually, I'm not sure if they were newer, I think they were the same as the old one) for the graphics and each time I installed, the freezing problem came back. So the last few months, I've been using the laptop without the graphics card.
My "open Box" aspire 8920 (Vista) wont startup.. but the Acer Arcade Deluxe will (without starting Windows)
When I exit Acer Arcade Deluxe, the screen shows a logo like XP but says only "Microsoft Windows Hibernating"
My Vista Logo has a round background where XP does not!
My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
I have a new Dell Inspiron 17R with Windows 8 (bought dec 12). From the last two days, the laptop freezes after boot. The screen (touch wood) is fine, since it gives me option to trouble shoot and all. I have a feeling its a windows 8 problem. I have done all the things (such as pressing fn and power logo) as mentioned in other posts. Still its not working. As of now the laptop is in pre-boot system assessment - all are done but Hard Drive 0 is stuck at 10% from the last 15 mins!
Why is the screen black / blank after booting dell logo? I do get 'Welcome' message below the Dell logo but after that the screen is blank.
Inspiron 15R SE 7520..When I attempt to start my laptop it goes to the Dell logo screen and will not boot Windows 8. I've had the computer less than a month and if I have to restore the system completely it will not cause much of a problem.

I format my hard-drive (SSD), I had Windows 7 installed on it.
I removed the harddrive from my laptop.I attached my drive to an USB adapter and removed the partitions on the drive with "Create and format hard disk partitions" on another PC.Put the hard-drive back in the laptop.Tried again and the installation works smoothly!

The logo on my Studio XPS started to peel and a part of the 'E' actually broke off in the 4th day of ownership... I spoke to Dell and they want to replace the entire screen (!!) but I'm not sure if I want to deal with the hassle. I can get a relacement logo for the XPS M series but I'm not sure if it's the same size.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open the lid to the laptop and hit the power button, the 3 buttons on the top of the keyboard cycle through and the power comes on, but the only thing that happens next is the screen turns on with a slight brightness, but it doesn't load any further. It doesn't even load to the Dell logo. If I tap the power button again, all lights and monitor goes off with a beep noise.
I have taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held the power button for over 15 seconds. This did not do anything.
I received my new Inspiron Utrabook today . Everything was fine for the first time that I booted. When I tried booting the second time, it's stuck on the Dell screen. Tried hitting F2 as per the suggested posts but to no avail. And how do you remove the battery ?

In the evening I could use it with no problem, other than it unexpectedly disconnected from the wifi once, but otherwise it was OK.
This morning it didn't start at all, when I press power button the Dell logo appears, and it stays like that forever, nothing happens. The power and the Wifi LEDs are on, when the charger is connected, the LED is on too.
Tried to remove battery, but still no joy.
I just bought my Inspiron 14z Ultrabook three days ago. The first time works fine, but now it's frozen on the Dell logo screen.
I have been able to run a diagnostic test if I hit the f12, and it's all ok.
When I hit f8 and the bar is fully loaded nothing happens.

I've tried to research this situation and it seems this is a problem with these specific laptops. However, no solutions (like removing battery and ac adapter, pressing power for 1-2 min, reconnecting ac adapter, etc.) that seem to work for others have worked on mine yet. I'm concerned and starting to get extremely frustrated as I've only had this laptop for a month and a half. I'm a nursing student who has many tasks to complete on my (nearly BRAND NEW) computer daily and have a pretty nonexistent budget (which would explain my hesitancy to take it in for repairs somewhere).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS 13 (L322X) running Windows 8. Yesterday I turned it off with the proper "Shut down" function. Willing to restart it, it never did.
Similarly to the post but without Windows 8 update (nor of other software)!
"I see the Dell logo, then it goes dark (but the screen is on, i can see LED glow at the edge of the screen), nothing happens anymore. If I hit the ESC or Return key I see a progress bar near the bottom of the screen and 'F12 Boot Options' at the lower right corner. There is no indication in the progress bar, so I do not know whether it is showing 0% or 100%. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete the laptop starts all over again, Dell logo, dark screen, hit any key, progress bar... and that's it. Hitting the Power button does the same thing, whether I hit it once or hit-and-hold."
I also tried the F12 key, but nothing moves after the "on hold" progress bar. I cannot disconnect the battery, yesterday I unplugged the power adapter and let it run out of battery, restarted but nothing changed.
The only thing I can do is with F2 entering the BIOS but since I am not a tech, I didn't trust to make changes there.
where to find these? i'm using HDX16 now i'm lost these after upgrading to windows 7
