i was wiping my dell xps 1530 with a towel when the corner of the 'E' on the dell logo caught on the towel and ripped off part of the 'E'.
i superglued the ripped off part back on to the laptop, is there a way i can get another emblem from dell?

I was surprised to learn the battery can't be replaced by the user...
The ribbon cable on my D820 keyboard was snagged and ripped today and now I can't power on the laptop.
Is there anyway to short a jumper to turn the laptop on or some other way to turn it on??
My "open Box" aspire 8920 (Vista) wont startup.. but the Acer Arcade Deluxe will (without starting Windows)
When I exit Acer Arcade Deluxe, the screen shows a logo like XP but says only "Microsoft Windows Hibernating"
My Vista Logo has a round background where XP does not!
if the Dell logo on the Studio XPS 16 lid is the same size as the XPS M series logos? The logo on my Studio XPS started to peel and a part of the 'E' actually broke off in the 4th day of ownership... I spoke to Dell and they want to replace the entire screen (!!) but I'm not sure if I want to deal with the hassle. I can get a relacement logo for the XPS M series but I'm not sure if it's the same size.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy 1555 was bought back in August last year with Vista pre-installed and free Windows 7 upgrade. Everything went really well with the upgrade except now the Vista sticker is now starting to bugging me.
Can somebody describe to be what the new Windows 7 laptop sticker looks like? (Or even better if you could post a photo?) There are some available for sale on ebay quite cheaply but I'm not sure if they're genuine?
so who here has the a firepro logo in their catalyst control center rather than a radeon one? This makes no sense! Is it a common thing?

My Dell xps 13 is stuck on the dell logo screen, since its the logo screen i am not even able to go onto bios or boot option or anything, absolutely nothing has been working? is there anything i can do from here? or should i just send it to dell?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open the lid to the laptop and hit the power button, the 3 buttons on the top of the keyboard cycle through and the power comes on, but the only thing that happens next is the screen turns on with a slight brightness, but it doesn't load any further. It doesn't even load to the Dell logo. If I tap the power button again, all lights and monitor goes off with a beep noise.
I have taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held the power button for over 15 seconds. This did not do anything.
I received my new Inspiron Utrabook today . Everything was fine for the first time that I booted. When I tried booting the second time, it's stuck on the Dell screen. Tried hitting F2 as per the suggested posts but to no avail. And how do you remove the battery ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my brand new Dell Inspiron 15R SE, that I bought yesterday.
In the evening I could use it with no problem, other than it unexpectedly disconnected from the wifi once, but otherwise it was OK.
This morning it didn't start at all, when I press power button the Dell logo appears, and it stays like that forever, nothing happens. The power and the Wifi LEDs are on, when the charger is connected, the LED is on too.
Tried to remove battery, but still no joy.
I just bought my Inspiron 14z Ultrabook three days ago. The first time works fine, but now it's frozen on the Dell logo screen.
I have been able to run a diagnostic test if I hit the f12, and it's all ok.
When I hit f8 and the bar is fully loaded nothing happens.
I have a 14z that I purchased last August with Windows 7. It freezes at the DELL logo, and I cannot even do a F2 or F12 to try and get to any of the advanced menus.

I've tried to research this situation and it seems this is a problem with these specific laptops. However, no solutions (like removing battery and ac adapter, pressing power for 1-2 min, reconnecting ac adapter, etc.) that seem to work for others have worked on mine yet. I'm concerned and starting to get extremely frustrated as I've only had this laptop for a month and a half. I'm a nursing student who has many tasks to complete on my (nearly BRAND NEW) computer daily and have a pretty nonexistent budget (which would explain my hesitancy to take it in for repairs somewhere).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS 13 (L322X) running Windows 8. Yesterday I turned it off with the proper "Shut down" function. Willing to restart it, it never did.
Similarly to the post but without Windows 8 update (nor of other software)!
"I see the Dell logo, then it goes dark (but the screen is on, i can see LED glow at the edge of the screen), nothing happens anymore. If I hit the ESC or Return key I see a progress bar near the bottom of the screen and 'F12 Boot Options' at the lower right corner. There is no indication in the progress bar, so I do not know whether it is showing 0% or 100%. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete the laptop starts all over again, Dell logo, dark screen, hit any key, progress bar... and that's it. Hitting the Power button does the same thing, whether I hit it once or hit-and-hold."
I also tried the F12 key, but nothing moves after the "on hold" progress bar. I cannot disconnect the battery, yesterday I unplugged the power adapter and let it run out of battery, restarted but nothing changed.
The only thing I can do is with F2 entering the BIOS but since I am not a tech, I didn't trust to make changes there.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS M1530 that has seen very little use but unfortunately won't boot now. It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300. One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
I recently bought an Inspiron 14z and I rebooted it for the first time the other day after properly plugging it in and starting to set it up. It froze on the Dell logo and for some reason I can't use f2, f1, f8, or f12 at all to get to the boot menu to fix it!

View 7 Replies View RelatedOk, so I have this laptop (17R 5720) that I got in November. Um every time I turn it on, I get a blank screen just after the dell logo pops up.
I've tried taking out the battery and unplugging the adapter and holding the power button for 30 seconds and putting the battery back in. I've tried "D" + power, tried Fn + Power, tried F2 to get to the BIOS window, and I've tried F12 (which only got me to the Boot menu). Still nothing happens.
Don't know what else I can do. It looks like I only got limited access to technical support so I hope it's nothing major that I have to deal with.
Been working on my laptop all weekend and took an hour break came back and when the laptop tried to boot up got stuck on the dell screen. The screen it is stuck on has the dell emblem in the middle and has inspiron under that and a progress bar that is completely empty. In the bottom left corner is has F2 Setup and below that has F12 Boot Options.
I have tried to turn it on and press F2 all that happens is the F2 becomes highlighted but nothing seems to happen. I can do the same for the F12. I have tried booting it while plugged into wall and when it's not doesn't seem to change anything. I have left it on for a while now and every few minutes the screen goes blank and makes a few clicking noises and a few of the lights on the top corner of bottom part of laptop flash. It then just gets stuck in the same frozen screen.
The laptop has a weeks worth of very important data I need on it....
My Inspiron N5030 Laptop won't boot it gets stuck after the Dell logo. Then a "_" sign appears at the top left corner of the screen and then it just hangs.
I have already tried the Dell CD and run diagnostics with no problems found. Could it be a software issue or hardware as in malfunctioned hdd?
Yesterday i have received my new Laptop Inspiron N3542 with Ubuntu. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and on OS installation completes, laptop reboots continiously on DELL logo.
Troubleshooting:
1. Performed a diagnostic test from BIOS under F12 - Passed all hardware test and no failure.
2. Tried with Windows home basic and Windows Professional 64 bit no luck.
3. In BIOS only option available is AHCI.
When I turn the laptop on it gets to the Dell logo screen then screen goes black with a cursor in top left corner but then it restarts again.Regardless if the F2 or F12 keys are selected or not, the systems restarts again. This cycle continues indefinately until I turn it off.
I have replaced the memory stick (brand new), the hard drive (brand new), the motherboard (used from ebay), and the processor (used from ebay) and still the same thing. I have tried it without the cd drive installed and same thing. I have tried it without the battery installed but with the power supply and same thing. I have tried turning it on with the windows disk in the cd rom drive and same thing.
