Today, somebody (without my permission) updated my laptop from windows 8.0 to 8.1. Later I found out that this person didn't make the, according to the HP supportpage, necessary preparations. HP warns that my laptop now can get problems, like a blank screen, loss of internet connectivity and disabled hardwaredevices. I bought my laptop about 1 year ago. It's a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC 64-bit.
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC, model 15-e055st, which I purchased two months ago with Windows 8 pre-installed. I susequently upgraded the operating system to Windows 8.1 and all seemed to work OK. I then used the HP Support Assistant to do some important updates, which included the BIOS and other software. Following the HP update the computer would not Shut Down or Sleep, but Restart worked OK. When I attempt to Shut Down or Sleep, the screen goes black but the power light and the wifi light on the keyboard remain on and the fan is still operating. The machine will not recover from this situation without me first doing a hard reset by keeping the power button pressed for about five seconds.
I trıed restoring the software to the condition prior to the HP update but the problem still existed. Two days ago I refreshed the computer, which rolled the operating system back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.0 but the Shut Down/Sleep problem is still there.
My HP notebook G7 was doing windows update on monday night it was on all night but in the morning when i checked it had an all blue screen that says HP and a circle that indicates it is loading but nothing else. it stayed like that all tuesday i am guessing it froze. i have tried restarting the computer with the power button but i get the same screen again. i have take out the battery also and the same thing happened.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion dv7-6b78us laptop running Windows 7 64 bit, and am unable to run windows update.
First I was getting HP Connection Manager error messages. All the message said was to check the event view to see the problem. Which, as a lay person, did not tell me what the problem was. Then I noticed that I was not getting any windows updates on this PC when my other PC was. After doing some research, I uninstalled HP Connection Manager, but this did not fix my windows update problem. I have tried running Windows Update manually from Administrative Tools but it will not start. The error message pointed to a service named Background Intelligence Transfer Service which was not running. I tried to manually start that as well and got the following message:
"Windows could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code -2147014790."
Updated pc to Windows 8.1 today and now have no sound at all and the pc says no headphones or speakers are plugged in and detection finds no problem and also the AMD 'properties' say sevice is working properly (I have no back drivers to revert back to liste)

I have checked the device manager and all the items under the "Other Devices" have little "!" marks next to them (when i right-click and select properties, under "Device status" it says: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)...".

I ran the repair app from Microsoft, that did not work. Found various other fixes via Google, but not I understand well enough to actually use.

I own a HP Pavilion G series laptop and have windows 8.1 running on it. Windows just made me finish an update after which it is not detecing my battery anymore. At first, it said: "Plugged in but not charging". Hence, I shutdown the computer, removed the battery and plugged it back in. Now it just says: "No battery is detected".
I should mention that I am not using the original battery that came with the laptop. It is an extended battery which was working fine until the update.
Now, its switching the message between: "No battery is detected" and " Plugged in but not charging"

I actually got it working once -can't remember where the driver came from--and then hp pushed out a new ralink driver and it's not worked since even though i've tried several things, including direct download from mediatek. I have Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter and just need a driver that will work. I think i have about 4 separate bluetooth stacks now--may be part of the problem--but the most recent one came from hp.

I restarted the computer and my computer couldn't load my Windows 7 OS. I already tried Safe mode, I tried to the repair option. The computer tried to repair for 7 hour without any results. I already tried resetting with Windows recovery disc, didn't work..
My Laptop automatically installed the recent windows 8 update during shutdown. After that It is not booting properly. It just restarts repeatedly.

The audio on my laptop is not working. The mute stays on, even when I press the physcial keyboard button to enable sound, and try to enable sound with my mouse from the volume menu. Nothing has audio.
