The video drivers from nvidia site are not working, neither do the alternatives from laptopvideos2go.

May 3, 2010if anyone else has had a problem with a FZ21Z laptop and I found a whole load of problems with the GPUs and sony are fixing them:
I am trying to diagnose whether my problem is linked.
Last week i was using it fine and then all of a sudden it just stopped working. When i rebooted the sony vaio screen at the start has green lines and other dotted lined running from top to bottom. It then went into start up repair from which at first i managed to get it to load but now will not load at all.
I have tried reinstalling the OS (W7) which worked for a while but then the same problem came back and now i cannot get it to start at all.
The error reportsays something like
startup repair offline
signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
signature 04: "some more numbers"
signature 05: autofailover
signature 07: bad driver
os version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
locale ID: 1033
Before all this it did get very hot.
Does this problem look like it may be the GPU and therefore would it be worth contacting sony. I bough the laptop in early 2008.

Feb 21, 2010I tried to copy data from one hard drive to another, and a little notice came up saying I would be better using a high speed port. I was cleaning out my closet yesterday, and noticed on my FZ box it says it comes with 3 high speed ports, but only two show in device manager, which are the two on the right side, as the drive I was transferring from was plugged into the one on the left.

Nov 14, 2009After installing Win7 Home Premium 64bit on my Vaio TT11WN/B laptop, everything seemed to be working fine, except automatic display sensor which I couldn't manage to fix at all.
Recently, I also discovered that in-built Microphone is not working as well while attempted to use Skype. I installed correct 64bit graphics and audio drivers, downloaded from Sony support sites.

Nov 1, 2009I have followed the topic "Sony SZ750 Win7 64bit clean install (should help on other SZ's)", and everybody has problem of getting camera work (with cold boot).
I have found out since I have used driver from http://www.ralphg.com/public
my camera works fine (I completely shut down my computer and boot it again)
The thing is that this driver is not working with Sony Camera Utility, but it works with other program that involve camera (like I use Yahoo Messenger to start my camera, and it works very well).

Nov 19, 2009I have done a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit informed by Firestone and others on this Forum. Everything works well - in fact arguably better in terms of functionality of Stamina/Speed switch - with one exception.
I have not been able to install the WWAN successfully. I have tried a number of times to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from links on this site and also even tried the Sony EU support site Windows 7 drivers with no luck. I have tried asking windows to search for the best driver with no luck. Globetrotter Connect has installed correctly, as far as I can see, but just doesn't pick up the WWAN card.

Nov 5, 2009I guess I have similar issues re drivers on win7 Home Premium 64bit. I recently did a clean install of the W7x64 (full retail) on my tt11wn/b (Core 2 Duo 1.2ghz, 4gb ram). Everything seems to be working fine, except for some driver problems:
- Light sensor doesn't work, even though it has been enabled in the vaio control center.
- Base System Device issue in the 'Device Manager', unrecognised device perhaps a card reader, but under 'SD host adapters' there is SDA standard compliant SD host controller recognised.
- Lastly, modem issues, recognised incorrectly - Globetrotter HSUPA Modem.
Have been surfing internet past few days for solutions, but didn't find any, also checked Sony Europen Support Portal for 64 bit drivers, which provides some but apparently not for the above. For me, the most important thing is get the light sensor working properly, otherwise I don't use the later 2 much anyway, but fixing them is good too.

Jul 12, 2009I'm having troubles with windows 7 (build 7100 64 bits) and xps 1340. All Vista (64 bits) driver seems to work fine until the notebook wakes up from the sleep or hibernate mode. The Ethernet will not recover at all.
In the Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Connections the Ethernet will display cable unplugged even thought the cable is plugged. It will start functioning correctly after restart. It does indeed bothers me as if i close the notebook it will go to the sleep mode then I open it and the Ethernet connection is lost !
Also I can't get the inbuilt infra-red working. I have installed the driver but can find any software to use it with!

Aug 11, 2009I just installed windows 7 RC on my dv3t today, and it is such a new enhanced experience! I love the more sleek, smooth, and faster OS already. I have installed many necessary drivers to run W7, did updates, and organized all tools (Advanced System Care, Smart Defrag, etc.) It's a real champ. There are some things on HP's side I need to address to make the 100% of my W7 experience fulfilled.
1. Where is the GeForce 105M driver for W7 64bit? I looked on NVidia's site, and tried 6 different drivers, for Vista and W7 64bit, and the audio is the only part that was installed. This interferes with the native resolution, and I am having to use 1280 x 720.
2. Brightness setting is not visible anywhere in control panel, and the FN keys to alternate brightness (F7 and F8) do not work. The screen remains at full brightness. How can I fix this?
3. The fingerprint reader does not seem to work. In Vista, I had Digital Persona, but cannot seem to find a way to render it useful on W7. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places?

Sony :: 64bit In SZ650? Or 3 Gig Of Ram
Jan 11, 2009is it possible to install 64 bit vista in SZ650 and where to find the drivers? any performance gain (or stability?) My other option is to upgrade ram from 2 gig. But should I put 4 ot 3? I know the 4 gig can't be addressed by vista 32bit, but putting 3 gig meaning I have to install 1+2 (replace one stick of RAM) DOes it mean I lost dual chanel? How's SODIMM different from normal DDR?

i understand 32bit windows can only use up to 4gb while 64bit windows can utilize over 4gb. It seems that the clear advantage would be using windows 64bit since it has 8gb of ram.

I downloaded the drivers for this version of windows straight from the Acer site (Realtek version 6.0.1.5888) and the sound is fine almost every time but sometimes it goes all weird and starts making a lot of noise. I've tried to delete all the sound drivers from device manager and installing them again and it happens just the same thing after a while.
