after using for sometime(one is i locked my laptop, go out for few hours. the 2nd time is when i watching movies for around 15mins), the keyboard will somehow "off" or "disable", means u still can use the mouse, clicking everything n its fine, but the keyboard just cannot type anything.
i than decided to restart the laptop. but than after the os shut down, the laptop unable to restart. its just black screen. so i press the power button to off it. switch on, n it never boot up, not even bios appear. tried a few times unable to on.
i than plug out the power, which than able to boot up successfully on batt.
jus brought this for 2 weeks. clean install wit Win XP Pro SP3. but than wat makes me frustrated is tat when i use windows media player 11 to play mp3, as well as surfing net. somehow the song jus lag, but did not pause.
at first i thought is windows media player issue, so reinstall it, but stil the same. i than reinstall sound driver(Realtek), but doesnt help too. so went on to try other player, like winamp, media player classic. but didnt help too.
went on to power options to adjust to "Always On" which the speed n voltage wil be fix at max. it improve a bit only. however this only works on my previous laptop(Aspire 5584), but did not works on 4937G, when i observe it wit CPU-Z, Everest. the multiplier stil adjust either 6x or 10x. voltage also too..
i also did all the windows update, tweaks as well.
btw the processor n chipset using is T9550(2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 6MB L2 Cache), Intel Cantiga PM45 Express chipset.
just brought acer aspire 4937G to replace my dead 5584(which the graphics card dead). so reinstall XP from old laptop to new one.
before i install the graphics driver, i'm able to adjust the brightness. but after i install the driver(latest from acer), i totally cannot adjust the brightness. is either very dim, or very bright.
i tried getting latest driver from nvidia, but during setup, only HD audio, dont have any display driver to install.
the cpu of my pc acer aspire 9423 xp media center is blocked at a frequency of 1Ghz, while an Intel T5500 CPU is expected to operate at 1.66 GHz. I changed my HDD, the ram and cpu for intel T7200 and always my cpu to 1ghz.
The number keys on the right are locked and I cant use them. When I press the numlock key it just beeps and a pad lock open and shut on the screen. I bought this laptop especially for these number keys.
My old Acer Ferrari was protected with a bios password that i personally used. However I was giving away my old laptop and tried to clear out my bios password for its new user.
What happened was i simply put nothing when it asks to enter the new password in the bios..i just hit enter. Now the system keeps asking for a password when i have none to give. Even the old password doesn't work, as does just hitting enter. I don't know if anyone still knows tricks of the trade for this old system but anything could be helpful.
I've been trying to find a backdoor password but I can't find any that works and Acer won't help me cause I don't have warranty anymore since the laptop is old.
i bought my wife a netbook, as she specifically requested, thing is, on 3cell 3hrs are great, but it has begun to "tear" a lot in WINXP.....
background services...etc have been seen to
so i check out CPUID and lavalys.....both showing Proc working along at 800mhz....i have tried to change power profile in XP ..... and tried making a new one, but there is no way to reduce that tearing effect...... it feels a bit sluggish to me, i am going to add a 2G module (accepts Elipda 2G module from my HP DV5T) so some RAM along those lines is wha i am aiming for......
how to stop/ allow the laptop to clock on OS load....cuz the 800mhz on the netbook is unacceptable.

My Aspire E15's brightness is locked at maximum capacity. I can't change it in power options or with the Fn key. It is the same whether connected to the AC adapter or not. While using the Fn key and pressing Fn+Left Key or Fn+Right Key, the on-screen brightness indicator alternates between two levels but the brightness of the screen doesn't change.
I Recently purchased an Acer Aspire One D257 - 13473 with mfg. date 2011/07/04 pre-owned at a garage sale. it had a dead hard drive when i purchased it, which was not a huge issue, and i replaced it.  then i was severely disappointed.  I went to try and configure this computer for my own use, but turns out there's (what im assuming to be a BIOS password, since the HDD has been replaced) a password to access the F2 SETUP Menu on this machine. i was really hoping that since I've already upgraded the RAM and replaced the hard drive that i could get this machine actually functionable again.
I just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.  I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.Â
It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.Â
It really annoys me that my new laptop, (Just a week old) when turned on takes a very long time before it starts. After the HP logo, it will show a blank page where my cursor can be moved, then it will stay a very a long time so I end up shutting it down then turning on again and again until it finally starts up. This really takes a lot of my time specially I use my laptop for work.
My laptop is an inspiron 1520, about a year old now. Ever since I've had it, the hard disk drive has been making a loud, random click from time to time. Sometimes, it will click twice in the space of two minutes, sometimes it will click only once in two or three days.
Typically it's simply a loud snapping sound, like if you get a pencil and snap it against a wooden desk. It doesn't make any other sounds besides the usual hard drive sounds.
For about a quarter of a second, the system pauses. I think it's related to heat, as it happens most often while playing a graphic-intensive game.
I’ve got a tad problem with my acer 5920 , just bought it. Love it but only 1 thing is bugging me. I normally dont keep the battery in as i just move it around in my room . However if i turn off my laptop and turn the mains off and then turn the mains on and the computer on again, The time will reset to the default 2007 time. I thought most laptops have a battery in them to hold time like computers. This does not happen with any of my old laptops, do you guys experience this?
I have an Aspire 8930G and his cpu is moving between 30% and 100% all the time and its working quite slowly I used ccleaner and Spybot and still it works slowly what can be done? also in preformence on Task menger i see a 100% in cpu usege but when i go to the processor tab all i see in sum are no more then 30-35% cpu usege
my housemate is having problems with his Acer Aspire 5600.
Basically pretty much 2 out of 3 times you turn it on it will load in to windows and then just freeze. No touchpad input, no keyboard input, you cant use the power button either, you have to take the battery out to stop it.
I tried a USB mouse, no input from that either.
I formatted the whole machine and reinstalled everything, incase it was some sort of malware, still no joy.
One solution I read was to make sure all the battery settings were set to Never, as it can sometimes be known to put itself to sleep at stupid times... would make some sense for the symptoms, but I've done that and still no joy.
The machine runs fine EVERY time if you run it in Safe Mode... which doubly confuses me...
Another solution I have read is to switch the unit down to Word Processing Power on the acer control panel.
I havent actually installed the acer control panel, since I dont really like having third party software like that on there... but I should probably give it a go. Still, does it really HAVE to work on Word Processing power? That would be.... lame...
The notebook is running Windows XP Business 32-bit.
I bought this laptop to ease my sense of dispair when im away from my pc - however it seems to crash about once a month and then stop working for a while... like a week and eventually it just recovers completely for another month? im guessing it has something to do with built up static or something? im not big on laptops.. a lot of the time it seems fine but then when i open up WoW it crashes up again
also if i have it closed while listening to music or something it constantly makes this "dudu" noise as though theres some important notification but nothing on screen and it makes it like every 15 seconds but just randomly...
I have recently bought laptop acer aspire 6930 g with following features Processor intel core 2 duo t6400 2ghz 2mb cash Ram 4gb ddr2.
Hard disk 1000gb ( 2 hard each one 500gb) and preloaded vista home premium and nividia 9600m gt 1gb ddr2.
And i notice that my laptop take too long boot time in compare with my friend laptop Dell inspiron 1525 with 1.6 pantium dual core processor and 2gb ddr2 ram and 160 gb hard disk and windows vista ultimate..so is there something wrong with my laptop and how can i speed up boot time and do u think that i can play games like crysis and call of duty 4 and GTA 4 on it?
The buttons(email,e-management,internet) above my key board quit working,my volume bar will not show up on screen, and some of my symbol keys will not work.I've tried checking my settings and restore to a previous time that I knew the computer was working correctly.
Why does my E1-521 laptop shut down every time? Regardless of what I select, sleep, hibernate, close lid, it still shuts down. That is not what power buttons are set up to do, seems to make no difference what those settings do. It may be a coincidence, but I think I started having problems when I turned on "OneDrive".. which I can't seem to turn off! Running Windows 8.1....
I have, a.o., a TravelMate2420. Can I let it boot up and/or close down on specific times? It's one of my Acers, the oldest, and I want to use it for monitoring my sunpanels.
That program will start up after boot and close down while closing down the system. The program uses COMports and for datasavings harddiskspace AND a part of the machines memory, so it has to shut down regularly before the machines' memo is full. And then start up clean and so on. Aprox a week of data will do, so a weekly restart of the system would be needed.
If timer doesn't work I can use the local network option. But how?
lost/forgot all passwords(embarassing event) now notebook locked in boot menu F2-F12 with screen that says please type in admin oradmin password.also disc stuck in drive as it will not eject in boot up system.
I have an XPS Gen 2 Laptop. I know its like ancient now but after 3 years its still running pretty well. The problem is I'm getting severe fps drops in games and I realized something strange happened to my cpu.
The cpu load is going crazy because the cpu clock speed is locked at 800mhz.
I thought it was something wrong with SpeedStep but I turned that off and nothing changed. My cpu will not go past 800mhz.
Why is my cpu downclocked and what can I do to make it normal again. Dell BIOS doesn't really let u manipulate anything.'
CPU-Z shows
Core Speed: 798 MHz Multiplier: x 6 Bus Speed: 133 Mhz Rated FSB: 532
I have a HP Envy m6-k010dx and it seems like the fn button is locked. Every time I hit the volume or brightness buttons it is like I was holding down the fn key as well.
