I upgraded my probook 4440s from windows 7 pro to windows 8.1 pro. I have installed hp protecttools but I cannot enroll my fingerprint. No access to enroll.

I had to re-install Windows after a hacker locked my system. I hadn't had the unit long, so didn't lose tons of important data or files. But, I hadn't had time to really get to know my system either....so now I have the new issue of trying to determine what all the hardware is that is not recognized. I thought I would come to hp.com, find my drivers, download and be DONE.

If there weren't SO MANY drivers, this could be simple!

I am using HP probook 4440s.
I have the following problem: I set up an Administrator Account with password security and then add a Dell Security with fingerpint security. Now, I cannot access the Windows. The problem is the TPM cannot be connected or something like that. The scan says it accepts the scanned finger, and password is also Ok. How can I disable secure access or reset password, disable fingerprint control, etc. In BIOS I do not find any possibility to disable fingerpint but TPM activation/deactivation is there.

I wanted to do a clean install on my new laptop and this is the only thing I can't seem to get working so far. The Validity driver from the HP website is installed but, there's no security software listed for this device. I tried Protecttools and it said it wasn't supported on this device, I also tried Simple Pass and it wouldn't start without crashing. I'm not even sure I'm installing the correct software.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new HP ProBook 450 G1... running Windows 7...I inserted a USB flash drive to copy some some files from my other compute, and got the Windows Messgae "You don't currently have access to open this folder", then I press the "continue" button, and get the message "You have been denied permission to access this folder", and it says "To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab".
I click on the "security tab" link, but there is not any "security tab" in the properties menu for the flash drive.
My logon is the administrator and has all accesses checked'.
I also tried other flash drives and a USB harddrive, and access was denied on all of them.
I have a Seagate 1TB hard drive connected via USB as a backup (Memeo-backup software) to my HP Probook 470 G2 (Windows 7 Pro). The Device Access Manager asks me to authenticate myself every 15 min (approx). This is very annoying. Is the solution to uninstall the DAM s/w and what will the consequences be? Or how to get around the Device Access Manager?

I have a Probook 4710s with WIndows 7 64-bit. I tried to overclock it, but its seems I can't acess that ''configuration'' page.. I just get to press the F10 key to acess the startup menu, and then BIOS configuration, where I can just toggle some actions etc.. no overclocking there..Is it even overclockable?
View 1 Replies View RelatedProblem: Fingerprint Scanner - Windows log in does not give option to log in via fingerprint scanner.
Overview: After installing fingerprint drivers from the HP site and using the HP Protect Tools to successfully enroll fingerprint, I tried logging in via this method but the windows log in screen does not display this option. Device manager correctly identifies and shows the fingerprint sensor - however, the control panel says no biometric devices detected.
Details of what steps I took trying to make the scanner work are given below.
Specs:
1) Probook 4540s
2) Windows 7 64-bit
3) i5-3210m, 1Gb Hd 7650m, 4 Gb 1333Mhz, 750Gb 5400rpm, VFS 491 Fingerprint scanner.
Details of the problem and steps I took to install drivers:
After a fresh installation of Windows 7, I went to the HP driver site to download the latest drivers for Probook 4540s:

I installed the drivers in roughly this order:
1)realtek ethernet controller drivers,
2)audio drivers,
3) the chipset and USB 3.0 drivers (but not the Intel MEI driver)
4) Intel video driver: faced an issue such that drivers were not being allowed to install. After disabling switchable graphics in the bios, I was able to get these drivers to install.
5) AMD video drivers: installed after the intel HD graphics driver - installed but Catalyst Control Center was not being displayed. So I re-enabled switchable graphics in BIOS, re-installed these drivers and CCC was now available.
6) HP hotkey support
7) HP universal camera driver
8) Validity Fingerprint sensor
9) Synaptics Touchpad driver
10) Atheros wifi & bluetooth
11) Jmicron card reader
After driver installation, I installed the HP Protect Tools. After prompting for a PC reboot - which I did - it asked for setup of security etc.. Part of this pocess was the enrolling of my fingerprints - successful. However, upon log off/ restart of windows, an option to log in with the fingerprint scanner did not appear in the Windows log in screen.
I opened the Control Panel, and found there was no biometric devices tab, even though device manager showed biometric device and validity sensor (VFS 491). I then proceeded to uninstall HP protect tools and the validity driver for the fingerprint sensor, then made sure these services were running:
-Credential Manager
-Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
-DCOM Server Process Launcher
-RPC Endpoint Mapper
-Windows Biometric Service
-Plug and Play
After reboot HP Protect Tools as before would enroll my fingerprints, but again no prompt at windows login came to log in with fingerprint. However, one change after the installtion of [URL] was that in control panel there is now a tab for biometric devices; however, it says that windows did not find any biometric devices installed. An image is attached showing both the device manager and the control panel!

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy new Probook 450 G1 (core-i5) Fingerprint reader is not working in win7-64bit. The problem is that there is a "Validity..." software on the laptop's drivers DVD and it says the fingerprint reader is not available or configured properly but when I remove the original hp fingerprint reader driver and let windows to find a driver for it, the "Validity..." software works but it hangs on the "fingerprint enrolling" step.
Both drivers (hp's and win7's) seems fine in the "device manager" but non of them seems to be working with the "Validity..." software, Do I have to use the "simple pass" software instead of the "Validity..." software?
I just ordered my new 15-Inch MacBook Pro customized computer from the Apple Online Store and bought the AppleCare 3 Year Protection service with it, on my order staus though, it hasent shipped or anything, it just says complete? Will i get a box with papers, a cd, and a disgnostic tool in the mail or what bc thats what it says you get on the Apple website. Where is this stuff? or is it just auto-enrolled and i dont get anything?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my dv8t about a week ago, and the fingerprint reader that was pre-installed kinda worked, though it would drop out from time to time. I tried downloading an updated driver, but it flat-out refused to install. I didn't think much of it, but when I tried to do Windows Anytime Upgrade, it destroyed everything on the hard drive, including access to the recovery partition. It's just gone.
Now, I've rebuilt the system from a Win7 OEM DVD, and everything works perfectly... except the fingerprint reader. The program that is causing the problem is Validity Sensors DDK. It gets to "Please wait while Windows configures Validity Sensors DDK."
After about 10 seconds of that, the box disappears. The hard drive stops, and there is no longer any trace of the setup program in the Task Manager. I have the latyest version of Digital Persona, and it says no fingerprint reader is installed. However, Validity Sensor shows up in the device manager (VFS301, 2.1.0.2) and Validity Sensors DDK shows up in Add/Remove programs. I can uninstall it (really, i think it just removes it from the list) but the "repair" option does nothing. I have tried different versions of it that I've found in various places.

The laptop I have is a Probook 6570bThe OS is Windows 7 Pro x86The softpaq is: SP59202 (version 4.6.10.1)
The previous versions of this allowed for a silent, no-restart installation but the latest one is different.
I can get it to install by extracting the Setup.exe from the SP59202 executable and running it with the switches: /S /v/qn but it always restarts the PC at the end.
When I setup windows 7 32-bit and began ti intall driver the intel video driver didn't setup and this error msg appear....

I have both Intel and ATI switchable graphics in my laptop. I recently reinstalled Windows & If I try to install the ATI drivers from the drivers CD or from the HP website, the laptop hangs on the Windows logo after a restart and I have to do a system restore to fix it. If I try to install just the Intel driver it just gives me an error that says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirement to install the software". I am unable to change the brightness and the resolution is bad. In Device manager both the options under display adapter say "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", with a yellow error sign over one of them. I am worried if the graphics card is damaged from over heating. Is it possible to disable one of the cards to check functionality of the other?

I tried installing the Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader [URL] .... and it worked, but the program kept telling me that there was no Fingerprint reader detected. Then i tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, but when I did, the program said that a previous version was not found to update, so it couldn't be installed. I don't have a recovery CD either.

I replaced hard drive with SSD and installed windows 7 ultimate (X64) on my HP Pavilion G4 notebook. However, I am not able to install switchable graphics on my laptop now.
I have tried this
1. Installed HPSA and ran update and tuneup. It asked me to update "AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver" but it failed with multiple retries and after some time now it doesnt ask to do this update at all. Now everything is green in HPSA but I am still not able to switch the graphics
2. Tried to download from HP drivers page but it says "AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible harware/software on your computer"
3. Tried uninstalling the driver but windows updates the drivers automatically.
4. I also updated BIOS as suggested at [URL] ..... but still no luck......

well, i have plugged it in and it seems to be installing, finds the driver etc, then it says cannot install, then when i go into the device manager and click into the device it sayd access denied, i have tried alsorts to fix it, turned uac off etc and still does same thing, tried in safe mode, i just cannot do it.

there is no physical button to turn bluetooth but only the airplane mode... common guys, no one really uses airplane mode daily but bluetooth.
I reinstalled windows on my laptop, and I go to re enroll my fingerprint with the fingerprint reader. The Fingerprint reader suite says I have no fingers enrolled, but when I go to enroll my finger again, it says the fingerprint is already enrolled. But I can't find it anywhere. I'm assuming the saved fingerprints are saved to the device itself, but I can't seem to import the saved prints.
